WEEKLY UPDATE April 8, 2016
UPCOMING LOCAL MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS: The next monthly membership meeting will
take place on Tuesday, April 12th at the KTP Union Hall. The times of the
meetings will be at 12 pm and 6 pm. All members are urged to attend one of the
meetings. There will also be an opportunity for any and all new members to be
sworn in. During this meeting, there will be nominations for the following
elected positions at LAP: One Bargaining Committeeperson and Two Unassigned
Skilled Trades Committeeperson. LAP Bargaining Committeeperson--1 to be
Elected--his position will be elected by plurality vote, if a tie occurs, plant
seniority will prevail. Term expires in May 2017. LAP Committeepersons for
“Skilled Trades” (Unassigned)--2 to be elected from LAP Skilled
Trades-- the two (2) Elected Unassigned Skilled Trades Committeepersons will
fill any full time positions as they open. This position will be elected by
plurality vote, if a tie occurs, plant seniority will prevail. Term expires in
May 2017.
PATHWAY TO THE SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM: With the ratification of
the 2015 CBA, the pathway to the UAW/Ford Apprenticeship Program has been
changed. Informational meetings have been scheduled for all production crews
in Conference Room B (upstairs in the Administration Building). Times and
dates are as follows:
A Crew—April 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th from 5:30 to 6:30,
B Crew—April 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th from 4:30 to 5:30, and
C Crew—April 8th and 9th from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, and April 10th and 11th from
4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Please attend one of these hour long town hall sessions for information
regarding the Industrial Readiness Certificate Program. Those eligible for
admittance are ALL Full Time UAW/Ford hourly employees and ALL Full Time Salary
employees. The first term of the Industrial Readiness Certificate Program
begins the week of May 9th. Class signups will be held in the main cafeteria
at the following times:
April 11th--April 15th-- at 9 am, Noon, 2:30 pm, 4 pm to 6 pm, and 9 pm
April 18th—April 21st—at 9 am, Noon, 2:30 pm, 4 pm to 6 pm, and 9 pm
RIDERS FOR HEROES: Riders for Heroes is a group of motorcycle enthusiasts
associated with the UAW, dedicated to those who serve our communities and our

KENTUCKY DERBY AND OAKS RAFFLE: It’s just about Derby Season and our friends
at Fund for the Arts have an amazing opportunity for you to win a box to both
the 2016 Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby. There are only 1,000 raffle tickets
printed, which leads to a good opportunity for those interested. The raffle
tickets will cost $100 per chance, and all of the proceeds will benefit the Fund

a random, public drawing held Saturday, April 30th at Churchill Downs.
WOMEN”S BIBLE STUDY: There will be a Women’s Bible Study that will explore
Beth Moore’s James: Mercy Triumphs. Join the group for an 8 week session
as Beth Moore delves into the man and the Book of James. This Bible Study will
be held on Tuesday nights beginning on April 5th from 6:30—8:30 pm at the LAP
Union Hall on Fern Valley Road. There will be a study guide available to be

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION: Nate Morris of Morris Industries has developed a new
scholarship to honor Lewis Sexton. Lewis is a retired UAW member and has held
numerous elected and appointed positions. The scholarship fund will provide
three $5,000 scholarship awards to children of UAW 862 members or retirees who
will be attending college in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Applicants must be
a graduating senior, plan to attend a 4 year college in Kentucky, have a GPA of
3.5 or higher, be involved in the community, or demonstrate financial need.
The deadline to apply is April 20th and applications can be submitted at
morrisindustries.com/lewissexton/#
BALLOON RACE AND PEGASUS PARADE: There is an opportunity to be involved in
this year’s Kentucky Derby Festival Activities. There will be signups for
these events if you are interested in volunteering in the UAW Employee Store
located in the main cafeteria from April 4th thru April 22nd.
KENTUCKY KINGDOM AND HURRICANE BAY DISCOUNT: Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane
Bay Waterpark will offer discounted one-day admission tickets to all UAW/Ford
Employees. The tickets are printed at the time of purchase and are valid on
any regular operating day for the 2016 season. Please refer to the website,
www.kentuckykingdom.com for operating days and hours. The Company code is
UAWL16 and the date issued is 3/3/2016. The ticket price will be $34.95 plus
tax.
ESSP GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP: The UAW Grief Support Group will launch on Monday,
April 18th at 5 pm in the Union Offices. If interested or for more

B- 12 SHOTS: The B-12 shots have currently ended but will start back up next
Tuesday and Friday at the LAP Union Hall. With the success and amount of
interest that the program brought for our Membership, There is also a
possibility of other services that may follow, such as Laser Hair removal, Botox
injections, just to name a few. We will provide you with further information
and new dates as soon as they become available.
OPTIONAL LIFE AND ACCIDENT INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT: The optional Life and
Accident Insurance will have its open enrollment for 2016 from March 14th thru
April 22nd. Sterling Insurance will have representatives in the plant at a
future date to answer any questions and assist participants in the enrollment
process. You can also enroll once the period opens by calling 1-800-843-8184
or by going online at www.unicare.com/ford. You may enroll yourself, your
spouse, and dependents. New enrollees may elect the first two levels of life
insurance coverage without proof of insurability. If you are already enrolled,
you may increase your life insurance coverage by one level without proof of
insurability. The Sterling Insurance Group will be at the Louisville Assembly
Plant Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (4/4-4/6) at the following times: 5 am
– 10 am and 5 pm – 1 am to answer questions and assist members in getting
registered.
TPT AND STS EMPLOYEES: The 2015 National agreement allows the company to hire
TPT’s (temporary part time) to be used for long term medical, FMLA, and
unscheduled absence coverage and STS’s (short term supplemental) In the next
few months. STS employees are to cover summer vacations, as well as Launch
support. All of the STS’s will be assigned to B and C Crews allowing the
senior member from those crews to be able to come to day shift. Neither of these
temporary status employees will acquire seniority.
