ATTENTION KTP SKILLED TRADES MEMBERS - There will be a Question/Answer Discussion at the UAW Local 862 Union Hall on Chamberlain Lane this Friday, July 29 at 7:30am and 7:30pm and again on Monday, August 1, at 7:30am and 7:30pm. The purpose of the discussion is to determine the issues with the Local Contract. All Skilled Trades Members are urged to attend one of these meetings.
KENTUCKY’S FANCY FARM BUS TRIP – Saturday, August 6, 2016 the UAW will be providing a coach bus for the first 55 UAW members wanting to attend Fancy Farm this year. You will need to call the KTP Union Hall (502)241-9491 to reserve your seat. We want to have a strong showing of UAW members so please call now to make sure you get a seat. Political speeches will take place 2pm-4pm (CST). Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair. We will be boarding the bus to head back home at 4:00pm (CST) and expect to be back here around 9:00pm (EST). The bus schedule is as follows…

167TH ST. JOE’S PICNIC FOR THE KIDS – Come out Friday August 12th from 5:00pm – 10:00pm and Saturday August 13th from noon to midnight for one of Louisville’s most popular summer time events. You can enjoy great food and music. Saturday will feature the legendary fried chicken dinner and you can take part in games and check out the booths. Funds raised will help support the St. Joseph Children’s Home which provides a loving home to Louisville’s most vulnerable children.
THE 17TH ANNUAL UNITED LABOR DAY PICNIC - This year’s event will be on Monday September 5, 2016 at the Louisville Zoo. In the past several years we have been volunteering with the food preparation, parking, car show, ushers, etc., and this year is no different. We need 60 to 70 volunteers this year to help, in 2 to 3 hour shifts, with this great day of union and family fellowship. AW members, family members and friends (ages 13 and up) are welcome to volunteer with us.
The local union will purchase a ticket for anyone who signs up to volunteer by August 15th. Additional family/friends tickets will need to be purchased from either Local 862 Union Hall before the event; $7, or $9 at the gate the day of the event.

VOTER REGISTRATION – The Citizenship and Legislative Committees for LAP and KTP would like to inform Local 862 members that the Derby City CLUW will be hosting a voter registration drive during the union meetings at Local 862 for the months of August, September and October. If you are not registered to vote this will be a perfect opportunity for you to do so.
KENTUCKY BLOOD CENTER BLOOD DRIVE – There will be a blood drive at the next two upcoming Local 862 Membership Meetings. The first one will be on August 9th at the KTP Hall on Chamberlain Lane from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. The second will be held at the LAP Union Hall on Fern Valley Road on September 6th, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
Congratulations to Dan “Danny D” Davila. He was elected for the KTP Unexpired Term of Bargaining Committeeperson in last week’s election.
