Details of the post follow.
LAP WEEKLY UPDATE August 12th, 2016
ORDER BANK:
2017 ESCAPE: 32,697 UNITS 25 Day Supply
2017 MKC: 4,308 UNITS 24 Day Supply
VOTER REGISTRATION: The Citizenship and Legislative Committees for LAP and KTP
would like to inform Local 862 members that the Derby City CLUW Chapter will be
hosting a voter registration drive during the union meetings at UAW Local 862
for the months of August, September and October. If you are not registered to
vote this will be a perfect opportunity for you to do so.
ELECTION 2016: As the election for President of the United States approaches,
the Citizenship and Legislative Committees at KTP and LAP need your help. They
will be in need of volunteers from our membership to help distribute information
within the community. We constantly hear that this is an important election.
Well this election truly is important. That is why we’re asking for your help
now. If you are a new UAW member in either plant and want to get involved now is
the time. Help will be needed in the following areas to ensure a successful
campaign for the UAW endorsed candidates: canvass neighborhoods, attend rallies,
phone banks, voter registration drives, and worker to worker handouts. If you
are interested contact Alfonzo Davis (LAP) at (419) 450-8303,
alfonzodavis314@gmail.com or Vickie Morris (KTP) at (502) 419-6575,
vickiemorris3@yahoo.com.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE: Tables will be set up at the next two Union meetings to
get the membership’s opinion on what they would like to learn about, how
classes are offered or leaflet information. In addition, the Education Committee
will be holding a “meet and greet” at the LAP Union Hall on Saturday,
October 8th from 6 pm - 9 pm. The purpose of the “meet and greet: is to ask
members what would they like to be more informed about and how they can get
involved. Contact Barb Herber at herberbarb@aol.com or by text at 651-587-5490
for further details.
WEIGHT WATCHERS 8/15: Signups are going on now for classes starting 8-29-2016.
Cost is only $25 for a 12-week session; that’s a savings of $107.00, which is
paid by the PDA of your ETAP benefit for those who qualify. To sign up simply
come to the Monday meetings at 5 pm upstairs in the computer room of the
in-plant Union office on August 15th to sign up. You will need to turn in your
check no later than August 29th to participate in this great program. For info
or if you have questions call your ESSP rep on your crew.
STATE FAIR WITH UAW/FORD BOOTH 8/18 - 8/28: Come see the UAW/Ford Booth at the
Kentucky State Fairgrounds located on Phillips Lane. The booth will have cars on

at the KTP Union Hall and end at the beautiful Wendell Moore Park in Buckner,
KY. All motorcycles are welcome. Registration begins at 8 am. Kickstands up at
10 am. For more information, visit www.FordKTPcares.com or call 502-609-6344.
SHOP FOR A CAUSE 8/26 - 8/28: “Shop For a Cause” (SFAC) is now a three day
event (August 26-28) at Macy’s at the Oxmoor and Jefferson Mall locations.
The way SFAC works is that customers can buy a $5 savings pass that will give
them a certain percentage off in the store all weekend. 100% of the $5 savings
pass benefits the March of Dimes. Last year, some departments were as much as
30% off! This event raises almost $10,000 for us locally! So thank you so much
for all that you have done in the past to make it such a success! Volunteers
will hand out mission materials at the two main entrances and remind customers
to purchase their “Shop For a Cause” pass at the registers. We also need
Ambassador (mission) families to take a treat and thank the associates twice
each day for these three day. If you’re looking for a way to get the volunteer
hours for your child’s Dependent Scholarship, this volunteer opportunity
qualifies. Please contact Debra Eichenberger at 479-530-1141 (please call or
text).
UNION MEN WHO COOK 9/24: Join Derby City CLUW (Coalition of Labor Union Women)
as we host a “Tasting Competition” featuring union men. We will have men

entrees and desserts. The event will be held at LAP UNION HALL on Fern Valley

HONEYWELL LOCK-OUT: As of May 7th, 2016, the membership of UAW Local 9 and
Local 1508 rejected Honeywell’s extreme concessionary demands wherein the
Company retained the right to modify and/or terminate healthcare at any time
during the term of the contract, eliminate seniority provisions, subcontract
bargaining work, and erode workers’ rights to representation. Despite the
Locals offer to continue working during the negotiations, the company decided to
lockout its workers and hire scabs to do the work till further notice. The
lock-out has become a long financial struggle with our fellow UAW brothers and
Sisters. Please make an effort to donate money or non-perishable food for this
worthwhile cause. Bring all proceeds to the LAP UNION Hall.

pm (exhibits remain open until 6:00 pm). Off-site parking and shuttles will be

notified of those dates for however many employees needed at what dates. Both
plants, Labor Affairs and the UAW International will have to agree on the exit
and sending strategy plan. As you know, nothing happens fast, please be patient
and contact me if you have any questions, Herb Hibbs, JSP at extension 3650.

hours and at both union halls in the secretaries’ area, Monday thru Friday 8
am to 4 pm.
