With the change in the season, comes the political election cycle as well. As many of you know, it is very important to educate our members as to why we endorse candidates for office. We need to make sure we elect labor friendly candidates to office, that will support our issues and defend our rights, and not get caught up in all the "hot button" issues like, abortion, & gun control to say the least. If we don't protect our jobs first we won't have to worry about those other issues.
We will be holding phone banks at two locations again this year. Please make every attempt to help out and make calls to educate our brothers and sisters on who the UAW has endorsed in this years election for the Kentucky State House. We are only concentrating our calls on 21 of the Kentucky State House races.
We will make sure to serve you lunch between the hours of 11:45-12:30, and snacks through out the day. The hours of operations and locations are listed below. Make sure you sign it at either location to receive credit. All list will be turn into the Region 8 office at the end of the election cycle. An'Carlos Barbour (UAW committeeperson) is at the IBEW location, and Jason Hill (UAW Recreation Committee) will be at the UAW location.

It's labor friendly for the corporations. In that they get cheap labor. TPP will be the final nail in the coffin. Foreigners will be able to work here under a work visa and they won't have to comply with U.S. labor laws. No minimum wage, no insurance, no OT pay etc etc. Before long we'll have temps here making a couple dollars an hour.

I noticed both candidates said they were in favor of people on "no fly " list not being able to purchase a gun.
We don't know what puts you on that list. There is no trial. You don't get to defend yourself prior to going on that list, but it's ok to take away a constitutionally protected right based off being on this secret list?
And both of these sorry excuses for the presidency support this abdominal idea?

Well we differ on a few things. For one, a firearm is not a weapon, any more than a kitchen knife, kids baseball bat, or my car. It certainly may be used as a weapon. As to "foreign persons", it is already illegal for any one to purchase a firearm who is not here legally, or who has over stayed their visa. I firmly believe in the right to own a gun, and have that right in part due to founding fathers who did not trust the government, and had already lived through the horrors of actions like our "no fly list". You don't seem to like Hillary. I doubt you would say you trust her. She is outspoken about wanting to ban all guns. There is nothing to stop her from putting any of us on a "no fly list". Just being pro gun, among other statements you've made over the years on this forum, could be deemed by some "liberals" to make you a terrorist....... There is a real price for freedom. If you give up your freedom in exchange for safety, you'll end up with neither. I tend to agree with you more often than not, and I think upon further thought and contemplation, you'd change your mind on this |

I'm not defending Muslims. Being a Muslim doesn't put you on a "no fly list". To do so is "racial profiling ".
At one time I had to sit through the "highway watchman" program as part of my CDL requirements. They clearly teach anyone can be a terrorist. "Blond haired blue eyed terrorist ".
So our government says anyone can be a terrorist. I government says you can isolate Muslims and call them terrorist. I government says the no fly list is a secret. It says it won't tell us how a U S CITIZEN is placed on that list.
All our government will say is that IF you end up on that list, there is a process to prove you don't belong on the list, at your own expense.
Guilty to proven innocent.
That's not constitutional.
You keep getting hung up on protecting your self from foreign people.
The no fly list is about stripping our rights without trial from American citizens.
You can't trust our government to decide who is good and bad

Inform the president of Mexico to keep his people out of our country. Failure to do so will be seen as an invasion, for which we intend to fully retaliate. Either he keeps his people there, or we end up with some new ocean front property.
