LAP WEEKLY UPDATE September 30th, 2016
ORDER BANK:
2017 ESCAPE: 28,897 UNITS 21 Day Supply
2017 MKC: 2,198 UNITS 21 Day Supply
RIDERS FOR HEROES: UAW’s first annual “Riders for Heroes” Ride and Rally
for “Active Heroes” raised over $40,000 for the Active Heroes Retreat
Center. Thanks for all those who volunteered and participated.
UAW GOLF SCRAMBLE: LAP’s Golf Scramble raised over 55,000 for March of Dimes.
LAP continues to be a leader in the community and charity donations. Thanks for
all those who participated and volunteered.
HARVEST RUN RIDE 10/1: Ride is to help Homeless Veterans. Cost is $20 a rider
and $10 a passenger. Motorcycle rally starts and ends at Interlink Counseling
Services at 8311 Preston Hwy. Ride concludes with a Live Auction, rock and roll
oldies, and a free cookout. Wear red, white, and blue to show support for our
veterans and active duty military.
SUSAN G KOMAN WALK 10/8: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® Series is the
world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast
cancer ever created. The event raises significant funds and awareness for the
breast cancer movement, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those
who have lost their battle with the disease. Registration starts at 6am at
Slugger Field.
MEET & GREET PRESENTED BY EDUCATION COMMMITTEE 10/8: Join your fellow brothers
and sisters for Fun, Fellowship, Food, and Games. Contact Barb Herber at
herberbarb@aol.com or by text at 651-587-5490 for further details.
UAW BASS TOURNAMENT 10/9: Tournament will be held at Nolin Lake. Entry fee is
$60 per boat. Event is from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Entry forms are at the LAP
Union Hall. Deadline to enter is October 5th (no exceptions). Money orders must
be made payable to UAW Local 862. For further details contact 502-969-9136.
MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING 10/11: The monthly membership meeting will be held
on Tuesday, October 11th at 12 pm and 6 pm at the KTP Union Hall on Chamberlain
Lane. Please make every effort to attend one of the Union Meetings. For all
new members, who have yet to be sworn in, please come to either of the meetings
so you can formally be sworn in.
TESPHE CHANGES: Based on the 2015 CBA, we are beginning the implementation of
Automatic Enrollment at 3% for all hourly employees not currently saving to
TESPHE, and Automatic Escalation of 1% per year up to 6% maximum. Mailers will
be sent to all employees that are not currently enrolled for TESPHE
contributions. About 30,000 employees should receive the mailing. Also included
in the mailing and attachment is an Opt Out form. We strongly encourage all the
employees to participate in the TESPHE plan. e employees to participate in their
TESPHE plan. Below is the timeline for this auto enrollment process.
YEAR 2 LUMP SUM (4%): Traditional Employees (Legacy) will receive a 4% bonus
(approximately $2800 based on 2080 straight time hours) pay ending week
10/16/16.
WORLDS LARGEST HALLOWEEN PARTY:Volunteers are needed for the World’s Largest
Halloween Party for the UAW/Ford at the Louisville Zoo on Saturday October 15,
2016. We will need to check-in at 4 pm – enter into the front of the Zoo and
someone will be there to direct you to the meeting room. They will provide a
box lunch and give us our assignments. No Children are allowed at this
volunteer assignment and you will be expected to volunteer from 4 pm-9:30 pm.
Please feel free to dress up (no scary costumes. We need a total of 40
volunteers ages 16 years and older.
MAKE THE CONNECTION: Make the Connection helps JCPS Middle School Students
explore careers. The goal is to give every 7th grader in a JCPS middle school
the opportunity to meet with a professional to hear about their career and the
path that got them there. In order to reach that goal, JCPS needs 1,200 citizens
to give 1 hour of their time. Make the Connection will happen during the month
of October, and there are flexible locations and times. It is a fulfilling
experience for volunteers to connect with students at a transitional point in
their lives. Volunteers will conduct two 30-minute conferences with three
seventh-grade students during each half hour session. For further details
contact the Union Hall at 502-969-9136.
TALKING SERVICE: Veterans, active duty military personnel, and their families
are invited to this conversation circle in which various pieces of literature
are used to facilitate candid discussions on a host of topics: bonds created
while serving, sacrifices made, experiences gained, and transitions faced upon
return. It will be led by experienced facilitators. Talking Service offers an
opportunity to share perspectives and opinions in a comfortable, neutral
setting. Family members between the ages of 5 and 12 are invited to enjoy a
story time while the Talking Service conversation takes place, as that will be
geared for an adult audience. Sessions will take place at the Southwest Regional
Library at 9725 Dixie Highway (lfpl.org) on Tuesdays, October 4th, 11th, and
18th from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm. Call (502) 574-1676 for more information.
