Scare the Life Out of cancer Halloween bash – The Local 862 Joint Community Service Committees are hosting an adult Halloween Costume Party on October 22nd from 8pm-12am at the Local 862 Union Hall at 3000 Fern Valley Rd. the cost is $5.00 per person (advance or at the door). BYOB. There will be door prizes, a music DJ, 50/50 drawing. Costumes are not required but are encouraged. Proceeds from this event will go to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
2016 walk to cure diabetes – The Louisville JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Saturday October 15th at Churchill Downs. The walk is fun and family friendly, features entertainment, food, and kids’ activities. All employees and family members are invited to join the UAW/Ford Walk Team. Arrive at 11:00am, team pictures at 11:45am, and the 2-mile walk starts at 12:30pm. Ford Walk T-Shirts are available in the KTP Cares Store or they can be picked up at the UAW/Ford walk tent the morning of the walk. Shirts are a $5 donation or $20/family (max 6).
MAN UP Free Concert at Fourth Street Live – Man Up would like to invite UAW 862 members to their Man UP Stand UP free concert at Fourth Street Live! on Sunday, October 16th (4-7pm). There will be great bands with music to uplift and encourage men in our community to be better fathers, boyfriends, husbands and men in general! There will also be ten information booths set up from various organizations that work with boys, men and families.
13th annual fellowship dinner – The UAW Local 862 Joint Chaplaincy Committee is hosting their 13th Annual Fellowship Dinner on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Ron Gettelfinger Hall at 3000 Fern Valley Rd. The cost is $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for retirees and children (ages 10 and under). There will be a catered meal, door prizes, UAW Color Guard, and music. Tickets can be purchased from either Local 862 Union Hall.
Out of the darkness suicide prevention & awareness walk - This year’s walk is Saturday, November 5 at Waterfront Park (South Great Lawn). Check in/registration time is the same day at 8:30am. Walk begins at 10:00am and ends at 12:00pm. If there's any way you can pre-register by Friday 11/04/15 at noon please consider doing so as it makes it easier for you to check in on walk day. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st. When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. COMPLETE LASER CLINIC – Complete Laser Clinic will be offering vitamin shots in their new clinic space in the LAP Union Hall located at 3000 Fern Valley Road. The service will be available to our membership and families. The clinic is located in the large hall, turn right and go through the double doors. They will be in the office setting up for the additional procedures through the month of October. Vitamin Shots will be provided there on Mondays 10am - 6pm, Wednesdays 10am - 6pm, and Thursdays 10am - 5pm.
