This system needs a lot of work. 1st: when next weeks schedule is put out on Thursday it should go all the way thru the next Sunday. I hate waiting till 5:00 pm on Thursday to know if I'm working that weekend. 2nd: scheduling any time off is confusing as hell. 3rd: I've had times that I sign up for O.T. And when the schedule comes out I didn't get picked up and the day before the day I signed up for I get an email saying I got it. Can they Awol you for O.T. That you signed up for and got denied and at 10:00 o'clock the night before you get email saying you got it?

The scheduling process of Sat-Fri has been the norm for some time and is best for scheduling weekend work and the ability to get as many trades on as possible. If the schedule comes out and you are not working a specific day...you can be added any time up to the actual start time because by leaving the opt in you are saying I want to work no matter how late I am added. If you decide after the initial schedule comes out that you are not interested in working that day, you have the ability to remove the opt yourself. Schedule pro was pursued by the union so that our members could get notification at home when added or removed...so checking it everyday is necessary to make sure you are working or not...added or removed. Contract states you are to be given notice 1 hour prior to the end of your shift before the next overtime scheduled day and we can work with the company to get that awol removed in to avoid a drawn out grievance, but we all need to understand that we will never not schedule everyone we can get added up to the last minute...if you are in to work, check to make sure you have not been added.

This happened to me last week. When I didn't get picked up for Friday I verified with Gail and she claimed it was no mistake and they were running out of work. Yet Thursday at 11 am for a 7 pm start time I received an email saying I was picked up. I immediately texted her as I decided to take a trip out of town since I was told it wasn't a mistake. She did remove me but others were in the same boat and did not know they were picked up and AWOL'd because of it. I then called the union rep to give him a heads up and was told that is always the way it is and if you don't want to be picked up to go in a remove the opt afterwards. Obviously not everyone is familiar with Schedule Pro yet as once it locks down Tuesday morning you can not remove even if you don't get picked up. I think we should at least get a phone call if they are going to add us last minute.

Once they post it on Thursdays there's no way they should be able to AWOL you if you didn't get picked up. That's just common sense. A lot of people I know only check their schedule at work thru ford email. Some don't even have computers at home.
