LOCAL ELECTIONS 12/8: Run-off election for Executive Board Trustee will be held
Thursday December 8th thru Friday 9th 2016.
TIME: Polls open @ 4:30am on Thursday December 8th and
close 7:30pm Friday December 9th, 2016.
PLACE: 3000 Fern Valley Road at LAP UNION Hall
COMPETITIVENESS BONUS 12/9: All eligible hourly employees will receive a
competitiveness bonus by pay ending 12/09/16. Eligible employees are those who
have 90 days by November 15th, 2016.
ADOPT-A-CHILD 12/16: The annual Adopt-a-Child program will be held at the Union
Hall located at 3000 Fern Valley Rd. Event starts at 5pm and will feature music,
Santa Claus, face painting, and a magic show. Pizza will be served. This
year’s event will help over 120 kids from Maple and Rangeland Elementary. All
employees are in encouraged to participate.
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS TIME TO CHANGE: Beginning January 2017 the times of the
UAW Local 862 Membership Meetings will be at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. This time
change is per membership action.
PATHWAY TO SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICESHIP: All candidates completing the IRCP
Program in 2016 must submit their transcripts to the Local Joint Apprenticeship
Coordinator, Gary Mudd, no later than January 20th, 2017. Students attending
JCTCS can request their transcripts through Nickie Cobb @ nicole.cobb@kctcs.edu
Online students please contact Penn Foster. Transcripts will be collected during
the following times and dates: January 9, 2017 through January 20, 2017 from 4
pm - 6 pm Monday through Friday in the Main Cafeteria. Please do not submit your
transcripts to your Committeeperson or Local UAW leadership for processing.
SIGN-UPS FOR THE 2017 IRCP Program: Sign-ups will be held in the Main Cafeteria
from January 11thà14th during the following times: 9 am - 9:30 am, Noon - 12:30
pm, and 4 pm - 5:30 pm. Classes begin week beginning January 23rd. For more
information please contact JCTCS representative, Nicole Cobb at
nicole.cobb@kctcs.edu .
CHARITY CORNER SALE: The Charity Corner located in the main café is having a 2
for $25 on select shirts. Stop by and get the best deals before the sale ends.
LOUISVILLE HOLIDAY IN THE CITY: Louisville’s Holiday in the City promotes
holiday happenings and events throughout Downtown Louisville and markets the
city as a holiday destination for residents and visitors. Holiday in the City
will continues through December 23rd with Ice Skating at Holiday Square located
at 4th and Jefferson. The Holiday Market and great local festive entertainment
will be featured at 4th Street Live! every Thursday through Sunday through
December 23rd. A complete schedule of entertainment is located at

BOXES OF LOVE CHRISTMAS MEAL PROGRAM: Local 862 will continue the tradition
supported by the KTP and LAP Chairpersons in the Annual Boxes of Love Christmas
Meal Program. The complete meals will provide many families a Christmas meal
that some would otherwise not have received without the support of UAW Local
862. These meals will be assembled on December 22nd and delivered on the 23rd.
All members of UAW Local 862 are invited to volunteer on either of these two
days. If you would like to get involved, please contact either of the local
union halls and provide your name and a contact number so we can coordinate with
you.
UAW 2016 HOLIDAY SHOPPERS GUIDE: Buying Union and Buying American shows our
willingness to buy only the very best for our loved ones and support fairness
and dignity on the job. We also support efforts to keep America strong by
raising the standard of living, adding to the economy and saving jobs that may
be lost to other countries. The job you save could be your own! You can view
and/or print the UAW 2016 Holiday Shoppers Guide by visiting www.uaw862.org and
search “Buy American.”
UNION SPORTSMEN’S ALLIANCE 2017 GUN-A-WEEK CALENDAR: We still have a few
calendars available for purchase. Hurry and get them before January 1st to
ensure that your name can be entered for all 52 weekly drawings for next year.
By purchasing a calendar, you have a chance to win a gun every week of 2017.
Each week in 2017 brings another chance to win a high-quality shotgun, rifle or
handgun, including Remington firearms. The calendars are $20.00 each and each
one includes a registration and instructions on how to register for a weekly
drawing. The calendars are available at both UAW Local 862 union halls.
UAW 862 WINTER COAT DRIVE: The annual coat drive for Wayside Mission and
Interlink Counseling Services is going on until next Monday, thru December 12,
2016. Collection boxes will be located at the 3 entrances on A-aisle and at each
local union hall. Thank you for your contributions!
