Just put in a transfer to paint or body. Doesn't work like that You either bid on a job, or put in to give up your bid, and go work available. That will be trim or chassis Or get medically released And still go work available.

There aren't open spots in paint or body since the reduction of C crew for new paint/body. And those misplaced to production still have recall rights. You may well have left a bid job, especially a bid job within that same department and received your department preference, but it's not guaranteed. The last group I new who left material handling for line jobs all ended up in production, and they all went back to stock within a year or so. Trim/chassis sux.

Your also probably referring to metal finish or weld inspector. If your already in body, and familiar it makes sense to keep you. Material Handling never happy to see someone leave

Its very, very, very likely that you will go to work available in an undesirable area and get put on the shit job that nobody on the team wants.
Did you hire in on the lift? Think long and hard about going to the line if you've never done it. It might take you months to get off a bad job.
You could get lucky, but I wouldn't count on it

Just buy your supervisor lunch a couple times, and do anything he ask of you for a couple months then ask to leave your bid..Then he will help you stay in your desired area..It works.
