LAP WEEKLY UPDATE March 3rd, 2017
ORDER BANK:
2017 ESCAPE: 34,292 UNITS 27 Day Supply
2017 MKC: 6,299 UNITS 36 Day Supply
PROFIT SHARING: Profit Sharing payout will be on or before March 9th.
BED RACE: Derby events are around the corner. Signups for the Bed Race have
started. Come to the Charity Corner located in the main café and sign up or put
the sign-up sheet in the mail slot.
BLOOD DRIVE: We want to thank everyone who came out and donated to the blood
drive. We had 372 people donate. Our goal was 400. Thanks again!!
MARCH MADNESS BRACKETS: The Charity Corner will be doing March Madness brackets
again this year for March of Dimes. You can pick up your bracket in the store or
call Gayle Parker at 502-418-1990. There is a drop box outside the door you can
put them in with your envelope as well as the money.
SHIRT SALE 3/3: The Charity Corner is having a sale starting Friday March 3rd
thru Thursday March 9th. T-Shirts on the black tables are $12 and sweat pants
are $20. Get it while supplies last!
B-CREW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY 3/6: Starting Monday March 6th there will be a
women’s bible study meeting to accommodate B-Crew members. It will be held at
the LAP Union Hall on Fern Valley from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. The workbook cost is
$12.99. Contact Rena White at 313-600-1018 for details.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade 3/11: UAW/FORD is one of the sponsors for the St.
Patrick’s Parade this year. Everyone is invited to march in the parade. The
parade is Saturday, March 11th, at 3:00pm. Due to construction at the corner
of Broadway and Baxter, this year’s staging area has not been assigned, yet.
The Phoenix Hill area has been leveled and will not be used as our staging area
like it was in years past. Information will be put out as to where the staging
area will be prior to the parade. If you are volunteering or marching in the
parade, be in the staging area at 1:30 pm (once we know where that is). Show
up early. Find a parking place on a side street then walk to staging area.
Do not park in the Mid City Mall lot; they will tow you. If you have any
questions call Kevin Powers at 502-429-2341.
MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP MEETING 3/14: The monthly membership meeting will be held on
Tuesday, March 14th at 2 pm and 6 pm at the LAP Union Hall on Fern Valley Road.
Please make every effort to attend one of the Union Meetings. For all new
members, who have yet to be sworn in, please come to either of the meetings so
you can formally be sworn in.
POLAR PLUNGE 3/18: The UAW/Ford Polar Plunge is a unique opportunity for
UAW/Ford employees and their families to come together in support of the 7,800
Special Olympics athletes across Kentucky. UAW/Ford has a long standing history
of giving back to its community, and your generosity is greatly appreciated. One
in six families is touched by Special Olympics and with more than 10,000
employees, UAW/Ford can make a huge impact on the athletes we serve. For more

2nd Annual Prom Party 3/18: On March 18th 2017 the Derby City CLUW Members of
KY and UAW Local 862 Ford Members will host the 2nd Annual Prom Party. We are
requesting new/clean and gently used prom dresses, “after five” shoes,
evening clutch bags and any accessories you wish to donate for a prom event.
Items can be dropped off at either of the UAW Local 862 union halls between the
hours of 8 am and 4 pm. Also, volunteers are needed on March 17th to set up and
on March 18th, the day of the event. Any questions call Vera Newton 364-3973.
FREEDOM FROM SMOKING: Free smoking cessation classes will be offered starting
the week of March 13th. Register at www.nortonhealthcare.com or contact your
ESSP representative for details.
UAW-FORD HOURLY OPTIONAL LIFE ENROLLMENT: UAW-Ford Hourly Optional Life &
Accident Programs. “Open Enrollment” period for 2017 will be from 3-20-17
to 4-28-17. We will have representatives from UniCare at our location once per
shift. Look for a future announcement on dates and time.
Louis Sexton Scholarship: The Bluegrass Institute is ready for applications
for the Lewis Sexton scholarship. Please click on the link and follow the
directions for the scholarship process

available. March the 15th is the deadline for turning in the scholarship
applications. UAW Local 862 is not involved in the processing of the
scholarship in any way. The Bluegrass Institute is processing them for Morris
Industries.

Golf at Henry County Country Club, located at 2200 Campbellsburg Road New
Castle KY 40050, 502-845-2375 is offering $12 anytime on weekdays; $12 after
2:00 pm on weekends and holidays. Reservations can be made up to one week in
advance. Just show your UAW Local 862 Union Card.
Convenient Care and Wellness: Just a reminder that Convenient Care and Wellness
has an office located inside the UAW Local 862 Union Hall on Fern Valley Road.
Services offered are medical weight loss, facial injections, hormone replacement
therapy, skin rejuvenation, vitamin shots, and ED treatment. Future services
offered will include DOT Physicals and acute illnesses such as cough, colds,
flu, sore throat, sinus infections, allergies, etc. Hours are Monday thru Friday
from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. For information or to schedule an appointment call
