2017 MKC: 4,244 UNITS 19 Day Supply
2017 SUMMER VACATION SHUTDOWN: The shutdown period is the week of July 3rd,
2017.

First day back Monday July 10th
B-Crew- Last day worked Friday June 30th
First day back Tuesday July 11th
C-Crew- Last day worked Sunday July 2nd(6am start)
First day back Monday July 10th
A-CREW MANDATORY OVERTIME 6/25: Sunday A-Crew Mandatory production - 6am start
time.
1st ANNUAL PRAYER BREAKFAST 6/24: Your Joint Chaplaincy Committee will be
hosting its 1st Annual Prayer Breakfast on June 24th at LAP Union Hall on Fern
Valley Rd. The breakfast will be held from 9am to 11am and will feature guest
speaker Pat Day. No cost to attend. Everyone is welcome.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING 8/8: No meeting will be held in the month of July. The
monthly membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 8th at 2 pm and 6 pm
at the LAP Union Hall on Fern Valley. Please make every effort to attend one of
the Union Meetings. For all new members, who have yet to be sworn in, please
come to either of the meetings so you can formally be sworn in. Standing
Committee sign-ups will also be held at this meeting.
GOBI UNITS (Chinese Government):Just to clear up what is going on currently with
the GOBI Units. GOBI units are slated for China. China wants to build our
product over there and we want to keep them at LAP and the USA. How the
dealerships work over there are a lot different than over here. The entire
family goes to the dealership to pick up their new vehicle and it’s a whole
day event for everyone. The family gets a virtual tour about their the vehicle,
inside, outside and underneath. Yes it is put on a hoist. Every defect is
pointed out no matter how small. Here in the USA we do some of the same, except
they take it back to the Body shop and fix it and all good. In China, the family
gets to renegotiate the entire price of the vehicle after it is repaired because
they do not considered a repaired unit NEW. So you can imagine what kind of
price reduction is going on over there with the smallest of defects, imagine a
big one… GOBI inspection, wrap and higher level of quality will be going
through a lot of changes the next few weeks. Let us make sure we continue to
build to the highest quality for all our Lincolns and Escape Units.
WIFI UPDATE: Your Leadership has put the Wi-Fi on hold till another option
becomes available, cost is significantly reduced, and/or more areas are covered.
The substantial cost to the membership for the limited areas it covers doesn’t
make sense.
PARKING LOT COPS: Due to increased activity in the parking lots, LMPD will be
monitoring the parking lots. Please be mindful of what you are doing on company
property. Do not put yourself in a situation to potentially cost you your job.
ICE MACHINES: Please try to keep the ice machines clean for you fellow
co-workers. Do not wash your hands in the machines and or clean your food
containers in the machines. It’s going to be a hot summer and we need the ice
machines clean and working at its full capacity.
DROTS: Please check your pay (drot) daily. It’s much easier to correct your
pay the next day than the following week. Also write down your process coaches
(supervisor) name, desk number, pole location, and the operation you are
currently on.
ADDRESS UPDATES: Keep your address and phone number up to date in HR and at the
Union hall. If something happens with your job, and neither the company nor the
union can reach you, we can’t help if we can’t contact you. It is your
responsibility to keep this info updated.
REBALANCE: Rebalance has started on of June 5th and runs through Oct 26th, 2017.
Please keep in contact with your counterparts on opposite crews. It is important
during this time to communicate changes and job updates. Any operation
management has started during this period will continue until it’s been
resolved. The UAW will push to close all operations as fast as possible. STAY
OFF YOUR PHONES. DON’T LEAVE YOUR JOB EARLY. The company is watching.
HOTEL TOILETRIES: Please save your “Hotel Toiletries”, during your vacation
travels. You can drop them off in the clear container box located downstairs
at the phone duty desk in the UAW Offices. The supplies collected will be
delivered to the shelter for woman and children.
