Can Unicare deny a legitimate claim? I was out on medical for 2 weeks due to a fractured eye and was worried they might try and screw me somehow. Will my benefits rep fight for me or should I even be worried? I have almost 2 years in as of now

Yea you're screwed. They're going to tell you that all you need is 1 eye to see what you're doing. And NEVER depend on ANY union rep to fight for you. Kidding😂 well, except for the union rep thing😐

Will my benefits rep fight for me or should I even be worried? I have almost 2 years in as of now Cover yourself. It's your job, not the union's. remember all those local UAW reps work for FoMoCo, they're not paid by the UAW. It's your duty to read the contract, they give you a copy. It's your duty to do everything you can to understand what you need to do to cover yourself. IF YOU DO THAT, then IF you have a problem the chances that the union can help you are dramatically improved. It's not that you can't depend on employees of FoMoCo, who attempt to represent you via your local union, it's that you need to first do your part, and understand what the actual role of your local is.

Do not stress about it. Unicare takes forever to get back with you. trust me I know. I was stressed thinking they were going to deny my pinched nerve. They cannot deny your claim if your doctor wants you off. That is exactly what my committemen told me so I'm telling you not to worry about it. Just remember unicare takes their sweet time processing.

Also make sure your doctor fills out paperwork completely and get the dates right because that is YOUR responsibility. I had to call my doctors office several times so just make sure.
