Although body and paint didn't run a single truck today due to a major crash in ecoat last night our committeman told us that he thought we would NOT work any Super Sundays to make up the lost production and that we would still have the down week in December as the contractors need time for retooling and construction projects. However this is Ford and things change quickly around here. They could cancel it at any time or add more. Who knows? I wouldn't make any plans that are non-refundable.

Hi everyone, has anyone heard any news about the down week in December? Has it been cancelled or is it still on?

Last that I heard is that it is still on, but subject to change of course. Sales have not really slowed much. In fact Escape is only down .5% and MKC is up 8.7%. Total units produced/sold at LAP are 500 ahead of this time last year. The down week was never about sales and is on the schedule for maintenance and construction although the company won’t officially tell you that. As we know if sales were down they would schedule down weeks ASAP, not months out. Just my 2cents.

Herb told me last week he thinks it will happen but it isn't official until labor puts out a handout.

Is it still due to sales being down? Because Escape sales were UP 9.1% last month and are now UP .3% YTD and MKC sales are UP 7.8% YTD. We have also had two very major breakdowns that have cost us several units over the past month and there are rumors of adding a Super Saturday and/or a Super Sunday before the end of the year.

I think part of it is because band aids are no longer holding certain areas together and a real fix is needed.
