LAP BI-WEEKLY UPDATE November 3rd, 2017
ORDER BANK:

THANK YOU LAP: We wanted to say thank you to everyone for their dedication and
hard work as we move into 2018 and help turn LAP around and get the plant back
to where we all want. One Family. I hope everyone enjoyed their lunch and was
able to participate. We tried to delivery as much as we could to the furthest
outlying areas as possible until break time. If we missed you, we apologize and
will continue to get better. I want to personally thank our UAW Committee,
several employees and the Café for all their help! The Event was a big success
and glad everyone had a great time. We will be looking into a Spring Time Event
in 2018.
14th ANNUAL CHAPLAINCY DINNER 11/4: The 14th Annual Chaplaincy Dinner will be
November 4th from 5pm to 8pm at the Union hall 3000 Fern Valley road. There will
be a catered meal, praise and worship, door prizes and a message from Chaplain
David Watson. Tickets are only $10 for adults and $5 for retirees and kids 10
and under and that includes your dinner. You can get your tickets from any
Chaplaincy member or call Jeff Hale 364-3687 and leave a message including your
name, what shift you work and work location.
WELLNESS FESTIVAL AND 5K 11/10-11/11: On Veteran’s Day weekend, November 10th
and 11th Active Heroes will hold the Active Heroes Wellness Festival on the
Louisville Waterfront Park in the North Great Lawn. This event will feature a
workout area, Active Heroes information space, Active Heroes store, massage
area, jin shin jyutsu area, yoga classes, a pop-up wedding area, sponsor area,
and a peer mentor training area. On Saturday, November 11, the event will
feature a timed 5k run within Waterfront Park. In collaboration with gyms and
participants from around the country, Active Heroes will also lift 22 million
pounds in order to raise awareness of the 22 daily veteran suicides. All
proceeds from the event will support Active Heroes programs in an effort to help
eliminate military/veteran suicide.
MEMBERSHIP MEETING 11/14: The monthly membership meeting will be held on Tuesday
November 14th, at 2 pm and 6 pm at the KTP Union Hall on Chamberlain Road.
Please make every effort to attend one of the Union Meetings. For all new
members, who have yet to be sworn in, please come to either of the meetings so
you can formally be sworn in.
LOUISVILLE’S HOLIDAY IN THE CITY 11/24: Holiday in the City will kick off with
the 37th Annual Light Up Louisville tradition on Friday November 24, the day
after Thanksgiving with the usual dazzling array of lights, lights and more
lights, and continue throughout the holiday season with ice-skating at Holiday
Square located at 4th and Jefferson. The evening will include the arrival of
Santa Claus, tens of thousands of downtown holiday lights and fireworks with the
action centered on a main stage at Fourth and Main. UAW and Ford are a couple of
this year’s sponsors.
PATHWAY TO SKILLED TRADES APPRENTICESHIP: Transcript submissions for employees
completing all three IRCP classes in 2017 will be held in the Main Cafeteria on
the following days and times: January 8th-12th, January 16th-19th from 4pm to
6pm daily. Employees must request transcripts from their providers for
submission and classes completed by December 31st, 2017. Please visit our

selections will be made at the transcript submission meeting. For any additional

SUMMARY RECORD FOLDER DISTRIBUTION: A “Personal Summary Record” folder will
be given to all UAW Local 862 active members the first week of November. They
will contain information for members to complete on topics such as important
people (i.e. your attorney), finances, insurance information, important
documents, real estate, etc. The folder is for you to keep in a safe place, such
as a safety deposit box or safe, and will be a starting point to help your
spouse, or other heir, deal with your personal affairs in the event something
were to happen to you.
WORKERS’ COMP QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: We have a workers’ compensation
attorney at each union hall location each week. The schedule is as follows:
Mondays from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the KTP Union Hall and Thursdays from
4:00pm-6:00pm at the LAP Union Hall, excluding holidays. This is a question and
answering service regarding work related injuries provided by Jennings Law
Offices. You will be able to meet with a workers’ compensation attorney with
no appointment necessary. Please educate yourself and utilize these convenient
services available within your local union.
