Have Sync 3 in my F150, still under warranty. It's f#@*ed up. Freezes, button functions sluggish, bluetooth rarely works anymore, back up camera stays on after disengaging reverse; you name it - it does it. I have ruled out issues with my phone as I have paired my phone with sync in another vehicle with no problems (called my own house, no one answered!) nor do I have any problems with bluetooth working on headsets, pc, etc.
My plate is very full so made appointment to take it to dealer while on vacation. Gentleman on phone ask me what was wrong with it and I have no ideal if he took notes to put with my appointment. Arrived on time, 8:00 in the morning is a feat for a night shifter, especially since I had to drive an hour to get there. I was there three hours, everyone else in the waiting room had come and gone but I was still there. Finally asked about the status of my truck. A few minutes later a gentleman came out, nicely dressed in a pull over sweater (doubt that he was their electrical technician) and ask me to meet him outside with my phone. When I got in the truck he ask if I could show him the issues I was speaking about because they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I selected audio and turned the tune dial to see if the response was sluggish which it was not. I said well they must have fixed it because before when I turned the dial it could take 20 secs or so before the channel would change. He said we did a master reset. I told him that I did a master reset and the issues persisted. He said they did a master reset with a computer connected. So at that point he pissed me off, why would you do a master reset, either with or without the assistance of computer diagnostic equipment, then ask me to recreate my issues?? Should have ask me to recreate my issues before you touched it. We made a phone call and everything went fine. So OK, maybe they did have some success.
Did some shopping before heading home then decide to call my husband. Have to connect phone to Sync again because have been out of range and the mother f didn't work, again. I just spent an one hour drive to the dealer, three hours in the lounge waiting, and an one hour trip back home for this shit.
I called the service dept at the dealer, told them who I was and ask if the person who worked on my Sync system was their regular electrical technician or was he filling in for the regular guy. They assured me he was their highly qualified regular technician then ask what was going on. I told them I was having issues already and that at that very moment everything was froze and I couldn't even get the audio to come on. He said well you'll have to bring it back and leave it so let's set you up an appointment. I was already pissed and didn't want to shout out a bunch of hail mary's on the phone with what I thought about their service so I composed myself enough to say "I'll call you back next week after I look at my schedule" and hung up.
Soooo, I have a question:
Have any of you had personal experience with a dealer who has a highly seasoned and qualified, experienced Sync technician who doesn't use the trial and error method or the swag method (silly wild ass guess)? I don't have the time to be jerked around by a bunch of knuckle heads.
BTW, did some web surfing on Sync issues and found a web site called Sync Sucks.
