LABOR WALK FOR LINDA BELCHER – This Saturday, February 3rd UAW 862 Members are invited to come out for a Special Election Labor Walk for Linda Belcher for State Representative in Bullitt County. We will meet at 9:30am at 3000 Fern Valley Rd (LAP Union Hall) where volunteers will receive training, a list of union households to visit, and informational handouts to leave with voters. This race is important to protecting working families across Kentucky.
UNION ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOP – The UAW Local 862 Young Workers and Education Committees will present a Union Engagement Workshop beginning in March. The sessions will be held on Sundays at 1:00pm at the LAP Union Hall (3000 Fern Valley Rd) and will last an average of 90 minutes. ALL members (KTP, LAP, Leadec, USA) are invited to attend. Members attending all four sessions of the workshop will receive a special token of appreciation for your participation and be entered into a special drawing to be held April 22nd. If possible, please RSVP with either UAW Local 862 Union Hall (502-969-9136 or 502-241-9491). Sessions and topics are as follows:
· March 18: Leadership’s Rolls and Responsibilities, UAW Membership 101
· March 25: Diversity, Union Meeting Structure thru Recording Secretary
· April 15: Understanding the Grievance Process by KTP and LAP Chairpersons
· April 22: Fact vs. Fiction (Metro United Way), Community Action Program, UAW Special Events, Workshop Closing/Remarks and Special Drawing.
WORKERS’ COMPensation QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS – Take advantage of this very popular and free service. We have a workers’ compensation attorney offering consultations to all members at each union hall location each week. The schedule is as follows: Mondays from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the KTP Union Hall and Thursdays from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the LAP Union Hall, excluding holidays. This is a question and answering service regarding work related injuries provided by Jennings Law Offices. You will be able to meet with a workers’ compensation attorney with no appointment necessary. Please educate yourself and utilize these convenient services available within your local union.
