ROUGE POWERHOUSE SCHOLARSHIP - The UAW-Ford Rouge Powerhouse Memorial
Scholarship Fund is dedicated to the memory and spirit of six brave men who died
on Feb. 1, 1999 in a tragic explosion at the Rouge Power-house. 55 scholarships
will be awarded for 2018. The program is open to dependent children of
full-time, active UAW-represented Ford hourly employees. Student must be a high
school senior or graduate that plans to enroll for the first time in full-time
undergraduate study. Student must have a minimum 3.00 GPA during their three
previous semesters in high school. If selected as a recipient, student will
receive a one-time $1,000 award. Applications must be submitted Mar 15 -May 15,
2018. Applications are available at www.sms.scholarshipamerica.org/rouge/.
MLK MARCH TO MOVE BUS TRIP - April 4th will mark 50 years since the death of
Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK March will be held on Wednesday, April 4th at
1:30pm and will be from Capitol Avenue to the Kentucky State Capitol. There will
be a bus going to the event and it will be loading at the Teamsters Local Union
89 at 3813 Taylor Blvd, Lou. KY 40215. It will leave at noon to head to
Frankfort. You can leave your vehicle at the Teamsters Union Hall until the bus
returns by 5:00pm. The bus can hold approximately 40 passengers. If you are
interested in reserving a spot email tim.morris@glclc.com.
OWEN C. HAMMONS SCHOLARSHIP – Congratulations to Devin White, Madison Lauter,
and Kindness Akwari. They are this year’s recipients of the Owen C. Hammons
Scholarship. They will each receive a $2000 scholarship towards an accredited
college or university, community college, or technical or trade school.
