Why do we have the Tornado warning safe place at work?Today everyone phones went haywire at 1:45 but dumb fuck Co said nothing.?Union said nothing as sirens Blair outside?Fuckin joke .

I’m not sure what you can do or what can be done about this. News was reporting rotation inside the storm in Anchorage, literally around the corner from work. Numerous reports of take cover if in eastern Jefferson county. Hate to say it but imagine it will take a direct hit and loss of life before anything changes. Hopefully that doesn’t happen. Again not sure what can be done about it, guessing nothing. May come a time when you just have to walk off the line and go to the safe space. Rather get a r&w than killed I suppose. Stay safe people

KTP uses the AccuWeather service for their alerts. The tornado warning never came across AccuWeather. The fact is that the time that elapsed from when the tornado warning was issued by the US Weather Service for Jefferson County to the time it was cancelled for Jefferson County was about 5 minutes. Radar indicated rotation in the cloud over Prospect and it moved quickly out of Jefferson County and into Oldham County. The Jefferson County warning sirens blared for a good 10 minutes after the warning was cancelled.

All I know is at 1:30 our phones sent out a “take cover warning”and it was issued until 2:00..Seems like if the 15 people I was around got the warning a great big co like almighty Ford would have received one?Lasted 1/2 hr as far as I know.Never in my 54 yrs have I heard of a 5 min warning???COME ON MAN

And you are another mans bitch too. As long as you come to work when you are told to and do your job like you are told to and take their money then you are their bitch. You can talk tough all you want but it still comes down to the fact that you need or want your job for either a living, benefits or retirement. If I'm wrong then prove it and quit if you can. The guy is trying to work and make a living just like you are. Why would you bash him for that? At least you got somewhat of a union to back you up if you do something wrong or someone thinks you did. Supervisors do not and get walked out all of the time over stupid BS. If I was in Supervision I would be a bit nervous too. Their jobs depend on how well we work for them. I've seen Supervisors get in trouble over things that they had no control over whatsoever but because it happened in their area they were responsible for it. In some cases their jobs are a lot harder than ours will ever be. I'm all for fighting against a bad supervisor but we do have a lot of good ones here. The call to shelter is made up north and the bottom supervision has no input whatsoever. If anyone here at the plant would've made the call to shelter and the Accuweather said not to then that person would've had a lot of explaining to do and possibly would've lost their job over it. My Supervisor wanted to shelter and even asked to but was told not to because corporate didn't put out the warning yet. I know a lot of us around here think its us against management but why? They are people just like us and at the end of it all they just want to come to work, put their time in and go home just like everyone else does. Point your anger towards corporate Ford where it needs to be. The local guys here just follow orders as they're told to. |

Local guys have no balls, that plain and simple. Leadership is doing what is right and safe, not doing just what your told for the sake of doing it. Whole problem in this plant is not one supervisor or management guys has the nuts to make a decision and stand behind it. No a one of them want to be accountable for one thing, that’s why the react in packs, all go down together. Zero leadership

When it comes to a Health & Safety issue everyone has the right to refuse to do whatever it is that is unsafe.
I am certain that would extend to remaining on the job while tornado sirens are blaring.
How many walked off their jobs and proceeded to their designated tornado safe area? No one?
Why not? Afraid of the Man? Ignorant of their contractual rights? Looking for someone else to watch out for their personal safety?

What cracks me up is the co will write you up in a hot second over some PPE under the presumption that it’s for your own safety. Meanwhile a tornado touches down literally across the street and they’re like: “poses no threat”.
BTW, not everyone has a smart phone. I work with two people who still use a flip phone believe it or not lol, and I never got a weather alert on my phone at all...

Find out who is ultimately responsible and go after them. I think a good place to start is with the fearless leaders of our union. Why are they being silent on this? Why are they not demanding answers as to who made the call to keep working? |
