I saw that memo. Several people had it on their cell phones. It said that plants with 20% senior employees (30+ years) would be offered the retirement bonuses 1st.
KTP has approx. 6,900 non-skilled hourly employees. Only about 70 have 30+ years of seniority. Counting all those with 25+ years seniority (715 people) it amounts to only 10.3% of the plant population.
The memo said $130,000 retirement bonus for those with 30+ years and $30,000 buyout for those between 25-30 years seniority. Along with vouchers toward the purchase of a new vehicle.
FYI the only plant with 20% or more 30+ seniority employees is the Pilot Plant.
Last night my good buddy (30+ years seniority) called his friend in Michigan who works for the IUAW and asked him about this issue. The reply: it is a false rumor that has been going around assembly plants since last spring. No bonuses or buyout packages are currently being worked on by the IUAW and FoMoCo.
It is amazing how gullible people continue to be in the Photoshop age. Manufacture a rumor that everyone would like to believe and it will spread like wildfire.

Believe who you like.
From the Detroit Free Press article that you linked: "Does $11 billion planned in "restructuring charges" over three to five years mean thousands of worker buyouts, as suggested by market analysts?" etc.
Who knows? No one outside of the very top men within Ford Motor Company at this point.
Could retirement bonus and buyout packages be offered at some point? Of course. Will they be offered on October 1, 2018 as the current rumor alleges? The IUAW says NO.
My guess is we will see nothing of the sort before the next contract. The current contract expires September 15, 2019.

Not saying I don’t agree with you, and I believe this is the first step in contract negotiations, scare the younger guys for months and then in September of next year give them the ole “if you agree to this we won’t cut jobs routine” Although if you offer buyouts now you do save the $8k per employee signing bonus or whatever it ends up being next year. A lot of this is just contract negotiations in the new media. Guess we will soon see. Stay safe people

I’m guessing around next shut down the rumors will be flying.I could see trying to get some of the older guys out before we retire in 2023,and I can see them trying to buyout some of the younger guys with a buyout. Then they can hire more kids and start the 8 yr process all over again.Just Wondering What “Top” pay will be for the in progression employees? No way will they get 30.51.
