2018 bikes or bust– Bikes or Bust is back November 15-19 and UAW Local 862
will be hosting it. Join Dingo and Magic Mike from Q103.1 for the third year of
collecting bikes for deserving kids in Kentuckiana. Dingo and Magic Mike will
live on top of scissor lifts for 103 hours to collect new bikes for Toys for
Tots and the Salvation Army! All three Academy Sports locations in Louisville
will be offering a 10% off discount on all bikes donated to Bikes or Bust. For

34th Annual Christmas Bowling Tournament – There will be at Team Event hosted
the UAW Local 862 on Dec. 27 at 9:30am and a Singles and Doubles Event on Dec.
28 at 9:30am. Only $25.00 per event, per person – So get your teams
together. Also an “Actual All Events” will be available for $3.00 each.
The location will be Fern Bowl on Bardstown Road. Entry forms can be picked up
at both Union Halls between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
They are also available at both in-plant Union Offices or through your
committeepersons. Please submit complete entry forms and money order or cash,
to Terri Niehaus, Financial Secretary, UAW Local 862, at the Ron Gettelfinger
Union Hall, 3000 Fern Valley Road.
UNION SPORTSMEN’S ALLIANCE 2019 2-GUNs-A-WEEK CALENDARs – The calendars make
a great Christmas gift, especially for those who are hard to buy for and this
year there will be two gun winners each week. By purchasing this calendar, you
have a chance every week to win a gun in 2019. Each week brings another chance
to win a high-quality shotgun, rifle or handgun, including Remington firearms.
The calendars are $25.00 each and each one includes a registration and
instructions on how to register for a weekly drawing. The calendars are
available at both UAW Local 862 union

WINTER COAT DRIVE –The UAW Local 862 Community Services Committees is having a
winter coat drive from now thru December 14, 2018. Please place clean and gently
used coats and sweaters in bins located in the plants and both UAW Local 862
union halls. Items will be donated to Wayside Mission and local charities.
BOXES OF LOVE CHRISTMAS MEAL PROGRAM – Local 862 will continue the tradition
supported by the KTP and LAP Chairpersons in the Annual Boxes of Love Christmas
Meal Program. The complete meals will provide many families a Christmas meal
that some would otherwise not have received without the support of Local 862.
These meals will be assembled at Fourth Street Live on December 21st and
delivered on the 22nd. All members of Local 862 are invited to volunteer on
either of these two days.
