Keep hearing this ol’ rumor of eliminating the 3rd crew(C crew) in U body & U paint and going back to 5 days 10hrs. Beyond that, some P body folks are saying/hearing plantwide 2crews 5 days a week.
I could foresee U Body/paint eliminating a shift and going back to 2 crews of 5x8 hrs weeks, but it seems nearly impossible for the current order bank levels in the P shop.
Y’all hearing anything?

My contract in SUV paint says going back to 2 shifts over there is pretty much an open secret. Some discussion took place between union and company about going to 5 days x 8hours but don’t look for that. Ford wants you to be here at least 10 hours per shift. Don’t know about the other areas.

I worked 5 days a week ten hours per day with an additional 8 hours on Saturday (2 Saturdays on, 1 Saturday off) for years. There is no reason why Ford could not go back to doing that.

I heard from an insider (Moving up the Salaried ladder} that SUV body and paint will be back to two shifts sometime in the first quarter of the new year.

I was there during those 58 hr weeks. I worked in paint and after 6 days they would ask if we wanted to do 4hrs Sunday to fill the stacker back up. Also remember fighting with union over too many Saturdays. The union said “we will never fight Overtime”.

Mandatory Saturdays are contractually limited. Company can ask for as many as they want as long as they get enough volunteers post mandatory days.
