A word to the wise... when your time comes to retire BE SURE to contact NESC well ahead of time. On March 2nd I applied with Ford's National Employee Service Center (NESC) for retirement to commence May 1st. My first pension payment was supposed to be on May 1st. But I had a QDRO on file and the NESC needed to calculate my pension payment and send me the paperwork that I then needed to sign and return. I received the paperwork in the mail yesterday. I had independently calculated my pension payment in March by plugging the numbers into the formula provided in the Ford/UAW Hourly Employee Benefits Book the company provides all hourly employees every 4 years. I then deducted the percentage delineated by the formula in my copy of the QDRO. It turns out that my calculation was dead-on. The calculation took me 5 minutes. It took NESC nearly 12 weeks. Once I finally receive my first pension payment I will also receive missed payment and interest. But sheesh!
