Ford Motor Co. may need to shut down factories in the U.S. as soon as next week if the company doesn't received its engines built at the Chihuahua Engine Plant, Reuters reported from Mexico City on Thursday.

Ford confirmed late Thursday to the Free Press that a challenge exists in Mexico.
