Why in the hell is it every month in the online magazine we get at work the member of the month is an elected or appointed union member. I guess all of us line workers are pieces of shit that deserve no recognition. Just pay your dues and be happy you got a job. I personally know a guy at work that volunteers a shitload of his time for an organization for the needy. He's not looking for a pat on the back, but I bet he has done more than any of the people that got member of the month in the magazine. The last guy I heard got it for going back to the line. WTF?

Wow, that's my goal...to be member of the month. NOT! Maybe in Playgirl? I agree Scott, I'm here just for a check. I could careless about being in a magazine. Allthough, I have only seen elected or appointed union members get this since I have been looking. I'm not nit picking I hear it at the break table when every new issue comes out. I figured that the union would ask around or listen to people when they walk around (when they walk around) passing memos out. Extra work i guess to ask someone is there any one you know that goes that extra mile to help someone? The membership is union also.

Turn his name in. How would anyone knowwhat he did if you don't tell someone? I'll look into how to do this. I'll do the leg work. Our team and a bunch around us knows what he does. Not once has a committeman asked the question like I said in the previous post. Not bashing anyone just looks odd insiders get it every month. Share the love to the membership.

I agree Ktpking, not once have I heard a union rep ever ask anyone of us on the line about anyone who has done something worthwhile. I have never even heard a union rep even talk about or tell us about this so called union member of the month. I know a guy who has given both time and money for this union. He does what he can do but he doesn't do it for a pat on the back. I have seen him come in to work half asleep and do the job without any problems after being up early to do some volunteer work that was not related to both Ford or the UAW.
I asked why he did it and his response was simple, " I just enjoy talking and helping people. I also enjoy meeting them". He wants us to think he is a piece of crap but in reality he is anything but that.

how much leg work is in giving a name to brian??? king you will never be member of the month lololol Well buckeyeinky, I have no desire to ever be in the mag. About the leg work, why does Brian have to to all the work? I don't use this fourm to get Brian to the work of the committeemen. Brian has much bigger issues to tend to than sending in someones name for member of the month. If this was the case we could eliminate a shitload of committeeman positions. Thanks for the question. Hope I've been a help.

I don't know how they normaly select a person for member of the month. I can tell you we turned Steve Dowells name in and they acknowledged him. We did so because Steve had been a committeeperson longer than any other and when he felt like he was getting burnt out and starting to lay down he resigned instead of just becoming a bum. I felt he did a good job over the years and was glad to see he respected the position and the membership to get out instead of becoming a dead beat, he could have easly abused the position as many have over the years.
I think they would be glad to acknowledge any member that goes above and beyond, but they have to know that someone is doing it. And most people who do go above and beyond don't do it for praise so it is kind of a catch 22. Instead of getting mad about who was member of the month you should turn in someone you think deserves it.

Thats all complainers ever do is complain, they hardly ever try to actually fix anything they just complain about it.

The amount of energy to complain is much less than the energy and time needed to fix something. Which is why most don't go to union meetings but they still want representation.

I'll never complain as long as I keep getting free popcorn and soda for an hour or two once a month.
