JoeB, I think he does act like a management person. Swing from nuts wasn't a homosexual comment. This is not the right place for you to step out of the closet ktpelec. So let us drop that. OK, Mr. King went to night school to get his law degree. That is a very nice accomplishment. He did this just too make things better for us common labor's. LOL Mr. King is just like most all the international lifer's. He cant decide which side he wants to work for, the Union or the company. Gettlfinger was the same way, started out as a top notch leader, but then meet with him toward the end of his term and he acts like he is above all the members. I'm not the only one that got this impression. When he wanted to pass the contract changes, he acted like nobody should even question him. Bob King will be the same way and probably worse.

I am an Electrician in the U-Trim dept. at KTP, day shift. I come to work everyday and try to do my job to the best of my ability, sorry to disappoint you guys but I can't join the Homo club you guys are evidently a part of. All kidding aside, Bob King has been working for the UAW for about 40 years, so all of these past union leader acomplishments everyone likes to cite, are do to his hard work. I'm not going to throw out everything he has done for years because of what happened in the past year. There are thousands of GM and Chrysler workers that are very pleased with the way things worked out for them. I guess no one cares about our UAW brothers and sisters that work at other manufacturers.

I hate to say it but this is why I don't get overly involved with the union and all it's activities. I disagree with most of it's political views, and hate to hear of all the back-stabbing that goes on down at the hall, IUAW is even worse. Follow their lead or get Black Balled. They all jockey for position, forgetting that they are there to serve and not be served. How many union conventions did they have in Las Vegas on our dime? It makes me sick. KTPELC has said before that if you don't like whats going on go to the meetings and run for elected office. That all sounds good but I have a family, kids in school, theres more important things to me than the UAW. I know many good men and women have dedicated themselves to the union, unfortunately they have forgotten that they represent us. The ones who actually do the work. Oh by the way I do vote in all the elections and pay my dues each month, which gives me the right to complain!

Bob King I'm sure has been a good leader in the past, just would like to see some new leadership step forward. Someone who has a few more working years left, that has a vested interest in the future. He made an error in judgment supporting the last contract modification. He needs to step down with dignity.

axleman you are exactly right. It is very hard for a person too run and get elected without being in the click. Believe me it is possible, but the odds are against the one's that stand on their own. That is a shame because there are a lot of capable people who could do the job. Being "blackballed" is very hard to overcome. I speak from experience. Lets just leave it at that.

HONEST QUESTION, how much do you think ford saved by putting 260 of on on ILO vs. letting us work and then going on TLO? i can tell you its not a whole lot, and far less than the benefits they turned around and gave back to salary. would love to continue more, but i have to go to the unemployment office.

I've met ktpelec, he seems like a stand-up guy. He likes to post from a different point of view, and I believe it helps spark debate which is healthy for the forum as long as we don't start with the homo name calling and attempting to get personal. If someone can respect King for what he's accomplished, allow them to do so. If we think he only wants to sell us out, it's our opinion. We need to do our best to respect everyone's opinion and ask them what makes them believe that way. Not...why are you suck a suck ass? Our anger is with the I-UAW, not ktpelec.

Thanx for the encouragement Scott. LOL According to the info I read some of those salary people that work for Ford are UAW members, I'm sure they need some financial help. Back when he was younger I bet Bob King could have done just about any job on the line and with a little training could have done mine also. I know for sure I could never do his job.

Ktpelec, shouldn't you be working at the times that you have been posting on here? Getting paid $34 an hour to post on this site and to give Bob King Kudos while you are at work? No wonder some people have a distaste for unions. No disrespect to you Scott but this guy is all over B Kings sack and it makes me want to throw up. I don't care what Bob King did in the past. I know what he has done recently and I think he is a sack of shit. I don't care if he saved a bus load of infants back in the 70's, Bob King is still a walking douche-bag.

Sorry I got a good education and learned a Skilled Trade, you had the same opportunity. If you want to be in charge of my time apply for the Maintenance Supervisor position, it's available. As far as using this computer, they are all over Ford, and I save this web site to the "Favorites" on everyone of them I use. Some of the posts on here make me want to laugh my ass off by what I consider a very "short sighted" point of view.

I agree, my outrage is mostly with the IUAW, but we had alot of our local leadership standing behind Bob King and internationals decision to support more give backs. Thats why I can't support Mr King as our next APPOINTED President. I believe KTPELC has every right to disagree and voice his opinion, but I would like to know why he stands so firmly behind Bob King? No name calling here, just an honest question. Thanks guys for the opportunity to aire my grievance, it's been building up along time.

The benefits and wages the UAW has helped me to earn for the last 17 years far out weighs anything that has happened in the recent past. I have not always agreed with everything the I-UAW has done but it is a very large organization with more people than just Bob King involved. I try to find the reasons certain decisions were made. The different types of industry and employees the UAW represents I posted a link to above. I believe that our labor strugles will continue to get harder every year, as the U.S. population continues to rise the quality of life will go down for the vast majority.

There are thousands of GM and Chrysler workers that are very pleased with the way things worked out for them. I guess no one cares about our UAW brothers and sisters that work at other manufacturers. Doubtful with what they conceded. Actually if we didn't care about other UAW workers we would have rolled over and gave back everything, the only prayer they have in the future to get back ANYTHING is if we fight back and don't give in. Everyone knows that the last round of concessions was an attempt by the IUAW to level the playing field so the big three could continue with pattern bargaining, the problem was we wouldn't drink the King koolaid and you cant bargain with the govt,GM & Chrysler had no choice and I would think are not very happy with their situation(not Kings fault). We did have a choice and this "petition" is a feeble attempt by the IUAW to try to gather some support behind them. They need to all resign, I'm embarrassed for them all who told us we needed to vote in this last concession that the company needed it only to have the company come out with givebacks to salary and pay out profit sharing checks. Don't forget these people in the future, they make me sick.

Again, you cannot polish a turd. Bob King may have been great to some, but those of us on ILO think he is a shit head. On the contrary, you can polish a turd. In the end all you have is a shiny turd, nothing else. I can not always agree with what ktpelec says on here. I voice my opinion and usually go on my way after wards. We have to look at the UAW as a whole not just what is done here locally. I would be the first to jump on the Bob King Hate wagon, problem there no matter what we say or do locally he will be our next I-UAW President. I will not tell no one to swing on a nut-sack, because the pain would be very terrible. It just might a guy to blackout. Finally, Everything good that Bob King has done is all fine and well but the damage that was caused by the last Modification Contract Vote far outweighs the good he has done in the past. I told everyone last year that they would be back, got laughed at then but you all saw what happened later that year. Believe me when I tell you this, Bob King is not done yet with this Modification to the contract. I don't know when but we still have a possibility of another Contract Modification vote. I hope I am wrong on this.

I really like the above comments about Bob King.Personally,I do feel he is a extremely intelligent man who busted his ass to get where he is.He is a Labor Attorney and done this while working on the assembly line and raising five kids. How many can say that?I respect him for that and admire him.I respect him for advancing to the ranking he has obtained.Though,I believe that power, authority, and change in class has also effected him, as well as others that get appointed or rise to the top in the U.A.W. it happens on all levels.I would so love for some form of petition to remove I.U.A.W. members and have them run for election like everybody else and not be appointed by their buddy or whatever. To be elected by the people they are representing off of their merit and visions for the future.Having the biggest percentage of "No" votes on a negotiated contract in the history of the U.A.W. is not a acceptable nor respectable.Having 20 yrs. of negotiations thrown down the drain and submitting to these concessions are not acceptable or respectable.Manipulating the people you represent,is not acceptable.Just as they set a standard on your job,we have expectations of them as well. Are you forgetting where you came from?People get,"comfortable" in these positions and adapt a new way of thinking. They are persuaded and influenced by others and forget where they came from.Obviously,The I.U.A.W. isn't on the same page as the people they represent.I am glad that a handful of L.A.P's Union Officials are working on the line at K.T.P. and though they may have gained some valuable knowledge and experience through the years that could be very beneficial in these times, working the line keeps them in touch with reality, what they are representing and standing for.I say to them, remember who you are fighting for.If your "fight" is gone, you don't need to be in a leader position.Time drags on and can make a man weary.Remember what it is like to be out there day in and day out.Remember what you see.You were elected to be the voice of the people, a leader and to the people voting these individuals in,remember their actions, not their words. To all Union officials, remember, this is a thankless job, what have you done for me lately. It's not about what you did in the past,it's about what you are doing today. You find out in the wash who is about standing up,disputing, negotiating, having the heart, and selfless determination by watching these people's actions on a day to day basis and not just what they say.Actions speak louder than words.Consider yourself fortunate when trials and tribulations come your way, when your faith succeeds,it gives you the ability to endure.Tough times don't last forever and whatever it is we are going through,it will pass. It's a rough road, but we are on it for a reason.I have faith, and that isn't gonna leave me.I might stumble a bit,but I am not gonna fall.I personally have been through a whole lot worse in my life and have overcome challenges by staying determined and keeping the faith. We worry about tomorrow, how things will pan out, call me brain washed call me what you want, but I have faith.Whatever it is you have to suffer through in these times, remember, every Dog has his day and there are a whole lot more people in far worse shape than you are in.In my opinion,We all have opportunity to have a bright future at L.A.P. I have looked around and see how fortunate that I truly am compared to a lot of people in this world. For that,I am extremely grateful. As hard as it has been,we can't give up faith.Things are looking up everyday.

I agree ggcoop. I wish we could vote on IUAW reps to. I think it was set up the way it is to protect IUAW reps. Keeps lower level UAW people in line, fearing losing their own chance to move up through the hierarchy. Thus you get the "Good ol' Boy" network, follow the leader mentality. Follow me even though I'm going over the cliff. I know alot of our local UAW guys read these posts, I hope they will at least consider what we are saying. I think they ignore us at their political peril.

I have to disagree on this, used to you could get in on merit and education but not for many years now.You have to meet gender and race before merit.

Thanks for the above comments. In reality, the atta boy system isn't working too well.I talked with a former chairman at K.T.P. the other day.He was concerned that we didn't have any product guarantee at L.A.P.,nothing in writing. He is right to a certain degree, but with the things that have taken place throughout the media, commitments to this plant, and other information provided. It leaves me to believe in good faith that there will be a unit to build in 2011 and everybody who is currently laid off will return to work.It definitely wouldn't hurt to have something in writing, but now-a-days,that don't mean shit either! We will re-tool!We will have a product to build.Bet me!!I am not a gambling man,but if I were,I would be all in on this one.Like I said above,I am keeping the Faith.Could some people be effected at K.T.P?Possibly,guess that depends on your I-U.A.W. and how they feel about protecting the people there, they decide.Hell,if they will protect a T.P.T working as a full time employee over a I.L.O.Then to me,they will protect who they want.It is a matter of decision. Will they force move, possibly. But keep this in mind,If it were up to Ford, the day you were laid off, they would be calling trying to force you somewhere to eliminate some people's benefits.Even if they created opportunities they didn't need, to eliminate workforce, paying of benefits and paying buy-outs.How many would move out of state?Maybe 10%?20%?Not too many. Therefore, eliminating financial commitments. There have been people on I.L.O. since 2004,yet no one has been issued a"strike".Keep that in mind. Will that change?Possibly, but looking over the scenario,I don't see it being in the best interest of Ford and the U.A.W..Personal feeling. All I can say to those effected.Be prepared. It is a scenario.Take a real good look at the opportunity you have in front of you.Consider your alternatives.
