Today I stopped at a Subway and got a bite to eat. There was a copy of USA Today and the Courier Journal laying around. Someone had folded the paper back to an article on the Toyota accelerator problem. That gave me an idea. If the papers won't put them on the front page, we can. If you get the opportunity to leave a paper opened to a negative piece about any of our competition or a positive piece about Ford or the UAW, it is a win for us. It will be almost impossible for people not to at least see the headline and even if they don't read it, the story will be on their minds and they might discuss it later. I managed to leave four different articles exposed by the time I left. ;D

Good job Wallflower. I'll be at Baptist East most of the day tomorrow and if I see a paper and it has something negative about Toyota I'll be sure to leave it on that page.

allot different then when Explorer/Firestone thing went down 10 years ago. Hell congress was getting involved and was threating to ban the Explorer. There was one congressman form Louisiana Billy something that was really out to get Ford, and it turned out as soon as he left congress he went to work lobbing for Toyota.

Don't forget, U-haul, they refused to rent to owners of Explorers as well.

The point is to keep Toyota and their problems fresh in the minds of consumers. Even if they don't know the details, they will make stuff up, often times worse than the truth. It happened to us. Think of some of the wild stories you heard.

I've been preaching about Toyota since it happened. And yeah they tried to nail Ford to the cross with the Firestone tire deal. Any of you remember when they sent us to Washington D.C. for the Explorer rally? We had to go plead our case to Congress.

Don't forget, U-haul, they refused to rent to owners of Explorers as well. What was the story behind all of this? I had not heard of it. Uhaul instituted a policy that forbade the rental of trailers to Explorer drivers. Mountaineers or Aviators were not included in the ban. Go figure. It made the news and got blown out of proportion. I think it was about the same time as the tire deal.

Mines is mostly covered with stickers of bands and beers that most people have never heard of. We had a yard sale awhile back and some lady wanted to buy it. NOT FOR SALE! Gotta keep my beer cold.

I got to go to the rally as well and still have the magnets on the fridge in my garage too. Man times were good back then and money was pleantiful. Ford paid me for the whole week, put me up in a swanky hotel (about $350 a night), paid for my meals, and gave me money for gas and mileage on my explorer. Boy things have sure changed.

Yeah I went and took one of my buddies. We both got paid, ate, and partied with other Ford?UAW people. They were easy to spot with the door stickers.
Those were the good days. Back when you had to beg for a day off or awol to get some rest. 6 days, 10-12 hour shifts. I miss em.
Tony, I figure if we didnt spend it, the big CEOs were gonna squander it away on something stupid. But hopefully we will see those days again.
