So does anyone know how this transfer is going to work. Will they ask for volunteers or will we be forced? Do we have to be forced to come back? If we don't volunteer will we be asked again or forced? Didn't know if it was like the transfer to ktp. Is this phone call going to be a strike if I say no? or is it just info. thanks guys god bless.

I'm not sure and I'm not going to say it's written in stone but I believe they will be calling to see if you want to follow the product which i guess means that you won't have the right to come back. Hope they don't call before the union meeting so we can get clarificaton. The way things change around here it's best to get it from the horses mouth. Hopefully Ford is starting to give some answers on who, when and where.

I am with you guys, I plan on attending the union meeting to get confirmation on all this but am I correct with my understandings???
1. The call next week is strictly to volunteer to follow the Explorer to Chicago. (not certain if you are given call back rights to LAP) No strike involved?
2. There will be a posting for all Ford employees for volunteers for the jobs at Chicago. (with or without call back rights??)
3. Calls will be made to the ones on ILO to send them to Chicago, at which time you have 3 options. #1 Accept and move to Chicago and retain call back rights to LAP (depending on move pkg) #2 Refuse and lose any remaining benefits, (does this include unemployment) Keep call back rights
#3 Bump a less seniority employee at KTP

This is transfer of operations so they are asking for volunteers, here is the reply i got from Steve stone
"The Transfer of ops will not affect benefits or UI. You didn't turn down anything, you just didn't sign up"
now if they call after they ask for volunteers because they will need more and before they hire new people they have to call us at this point we should have the three options??
I think it is best we all that on ILO go to this meeting some big questions out there

I find it hard to believe that when/if the time comes that we are forced to decided and do not take the move to Chicago that we would lose our UI. It is not comparable employment when you are required to move to another state. We will have to check with UI.

laplap if you recieve a strike, you will lose unemployment as well. Because ford will deny your claim saying they offered you work and you turned it down. this is just what i was told not to sure if this is correct. Just passing on what i was told.

Talked to Stone today,Transfer of operations(with unit) will be solicited this week. There is no recall for this to L.A.P. If you accept, you are waiving recall rights and are excepting enhanced moving package($35,000.00).Chicago Assembly will become your home plant! The way I was told,if you want to keep your recall rights, turn this down. They will be soliciting in a month for those wanting to transfer with the option of recall. There is still no official language for recall, but are working on finishing it up to allow those who want to go,that option with recall rights.$4,800.00 to transfer with recall rights.

Just passing on what i was told. ford MAY try to deny your unemployment if you refuse to go to chicago. but, you can not be expected to uproot your family for a job. it is not comparable unemployment, and i would bet all i have that you would still be eligible for unemployment.

Legally that is correct. If Ford reports that you were offered a job and refused and you keep drawing UI, they will suspend your benefits and the minimum time I have seen for anyone with fraud is 26 weeks no matter what. The kicker is, you have to pay it all back also.

They had the first meeting and they said it was too late to cancel either. Next meeting is at 6:00 P.M. at Fern Valley Road.

Better hope you have a crystal ball when accepting to move to chicago. I came from michigan in 2002 (with them telling me it would only be a year) and didn't get "asked" to move back for 4 years.......I declined by then of course because wixom was going down. Just trying to make people aware that just because they give you a time frame doesn't make it so. THINGS CAN AND DO CHANGE......so weigh carefully!
