The problem I have with this, if it is true, LAP supposely has a cap of 180 Tranfers when 275 are laidoff. I would like to know if the other plant has a shift reduction are they gonna get a cap, im not trying be an ass toward our other UAW brothers and sisters but LAP employees deserve the same respect as all others!

That was sealed the deal for me. Just signed up to transfer. A lot more competition for those wanting to go up for the short term.

Thanks for the answer, Hopefully most of those 900 who are UAW can be absorbed at the Wayne plant . Im also hearing a buzz about ford creating 1000 new jobs in Michigan to make electric car batteries, not sure when this is supposed to happen or if it ever will but if it does I hope that gives those getting laid off from Flat Rock another option and keeps the door open in Chicago for those of us from LAP who are considering the move.... I will keep those 900 in my thoughts I know what its like to get that awful news.

Thank you justaworker, I didnt make this decision without much consideration and alot of questions for Jim and Steve (Thanks Guys), we have been researching the area for a while and think this is the best move for our future. We have looked at Hammond and Griffith, Dyer, Munster...etc. We are looking forward to a new adventure.

I hope you let your kids finish the school year out (if you have kids) because it sucks tranferring to another school this late in the school year. Or really any time during the school.

I find it odd that Jan tried to talk me out of moving to Chicago Assembly, Telling me i needed to talk with Steve Stone first. Neither one of them acted as if my decission was a good one, but now I can see this crap was planned. Now watch Steve Stone run around and play dumb. He is as dirty as the inside of my truck fender was today. The time runs out to follow the product, and if for some reason a person doesn't get to work again, I doubt any of our union officials are going to take the blame for misinforming its members on what they already knew was going to happen. Our union is corrupt or incompetent!

I agree with you cobrasvt........It's IRONIC how new information comes out AFTER "windows" CLOSE. This stuff has happened way to many times to be a coincidence.

I talked to one of my friends in Detroit today and he was telling me about the Flat Rock layoffs. Most of those people are worried about selling their homes and are already looking into Wayne. They are not wanting to do that transfer to Chicago.

i was worried about this at first, but then reality set in. those people at AAI are wanting to go to wayne, or stay up in michigan somewhere. sure, some of them will end up at CAP with some of us. but its not gonna be nearly enough to keep any of us from having the opportunity to voluntarily transfer up. the only thing it hurts is that there will be more employees with seniority, and less $14 an hour people. but whether you follow your product, or volunteer later you still have the same seniority.

good point! justaworker. glad to see someone thankin' positive! ehh, i have still have my worries though. there is no question that ford does NOT want us to go up there. so if there is a way for them to screw us, they will do it.

I think Ford has plenty more up their sleve. Agreements we have already passed, our lawyers are having to spend days attempting to understand the verbage. That should have been done before we were advised to vote yes.

justaworker have u signed up to go already?.... im waiting til march, HOPEFULLY!! i'm waiting...like you. i love chicago, its a great town. and i want the opportunity to work there for a year or so. but i don't want to uproot my family permanently. the way i see it, working nights there or nights here...you don't see your family much. so lets suck it up, come home every weekend...make some money, and wait for LAP to reopen.

No matter what the media says, the economy hasn't recovered. Orders for autos are down across the board.

I'm not defending him, I just don't understand what you are driving at. seems strange to me too. based on all the facts, those of us on ILO have 3 choices. 1. stay on ILO, run out of TAP money and benefits and wait for LAP to reopen. 2. go to chicago, keep recall rights and come home when LAP reopens. 3. go to chicago and have no recall rights. i think people are getting scared and jumping to option #3. and you really can't blame them. the company screwed us over already, and our union let them.
