Out of 40 assembly plants,Ford has 10 in the United States. With one scheduled to close(Twin Cities). Not including parts or engine plants, etc. Is Ford Motor Co. really American made????Flat Rock is subject to close with the Mustang to be moved to possibly Canada,Ohio Assembly's promised body shop has been postponed for re-tooling with no announcement of a new product to be built there.Rumors and speculation.Causing anger, frustration and low moral there.Kansas City has a lot of speculation and hype about getting the Transit, but nothing official.from what I have seen, there are a lot of frustrated people there as well.Threatened to strike due to over loaded jobs recently. Not too sure about MI.,but I know that several people have transferred from up there to K.T.P..Since 2004,several plants have closed the doors nation wide and have required people to uproot and move to foreign states.Just what in the hell is our I-U.A.W. doing to protect us?I hear that Black Lake is up for sale.Got Walter Ruether's grave site for sale. What the Hell???When will the madness stop. You can only blame so much on the economy. The Economy is in this situation because of situations like this.If you keep moving our jobs out,how in the hell do you expect us to recover.Contract time is not going to be easy, next year. The U.A.W. is at a huge disadvantage and are facing more job losses in the future. 3 C platform plants across the nation, sounds about right,Calvin.Enough is enough! If those jokers up there in I-U.A.W. can't do anything about any of this, maybe it's time to look for individuals who can!Too many wolves in sheep's clothing.

One of the plants that has been told they are getting future product ,will close.
Ford only needs 2 plants to build c-platform products.
There has never been any official info on Ford building either of the Transit platforms in the U.S.(Transit-connect or Full-size Transit).
Transit-connect is built in Turkey, and i don't see that changing in the near future either.
I think they will ship the full-size Transit into the U.S. for the time being, until they see what kinda customer response they get first.
And at current levels for f-150 orders,DTP is probably able to build enough on 3 crews.
We will have to see if we indeed do get re-tooled for the c-platform,remember that we are suppose to be re-tooled for a multi-platform based on the c-platform products.

I don't know what kind of power you expect the IUAW to have over the buying preferences of the American consumer. For decades now the American consumer has chosen the lower cost product, no matter where it is made, or how much better quality it is. This is true in all sectors of manufacturing. That toothbrush you used this morning, check the box next time, made in China. Do you play golf? The clubs may be American made but those plastic tees, made in China. Everyone you see has a really cool cell phone, and they are all made overseas. The Asian worker will work for less money, that results in a lower cost product. The wiring assemblies in our vehicles are all made in Mexico, there isn't an American company that even offers to manufacture them. Would you use your money to start an American company to try and compete with that kind of labor cost imbalance? I am not saying it's right, it is just a very bad predicament we "Free" American consumers have worked ourselves into. This is a very broad, complex problem that no one President, Congressman or American Union will be able to solve anytime soon. It is up to the American people to decide when to do without, or to spend a little more for American made, for the good of your neighbors and countrymen. Yet everyday the population rises and the problem just gets more complex.

ktpelec,I agree with you totally. But,now that we are in this shape, where does it begin to change?I must admit,I am guilty of buying cheaper products. But I also realize that you usually get what you pay for,as well.Free trade has blown up in our faces and has back fired dramatically.Long term effects from the agreement, that was made years ago.How does America become a independent country again? It starts in congress.Right now,we have idiots like Mitch McConnell running the show.Hope he has a heart attack and dies tomorrow! We are a nation in deficit,do you think that he will take a paycut?Tax,Tax,Tax.It is easy for congress to implement all sorts of taxes upon a average middle class American, like myself.Yet when it comes to imports and exports,it really seems we are on the short end of the stick.Right now,Ford motor Co. is in a great position to reap rewards due to the state Toyota is in.Since we are now profitable again. It is time to implement these re-tools and get some products in there to build and take full advantage of the situation at hand. You snooze, you lose.It may cost more to build in America, but look at the whole picture. What does it do for our economy? What does it do for our Country and what does it say about your company? You have to give a little to get a little. This is a opportunity that Ford Motor can't afford to let slip away.

I totally agree ggcoop, and I believe it could be done but it won't be easy. There is a good editorial in the Courier about Congress term limits and campaign spending, these things have to change, yet Congress has control and won't let those things happen. I guess one day the common people will revolt against these ideals.

I think you guys have the right outlook but tell me how long has this trade shit been doing us any favors. We continue to go in debt to other countries because their products cost nothing to make and nothing to buy yet I have seen congress do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING so maybe when we are on the fringe of becoming a third world country will we see some sort of act being taken
