Called UAW 551 in Chicago to inquire about when the next union meeting is and was told 5:00 p.m. on March 18th. Some of us thought that would be a good time to go ask some questions. I told the gentleman our intentions and he informed me of a plant tour on either Feb. 27th or March 6th with the 6th the most likely for those thinking about moving to Chicago. Both days are on a Saturday. I would assume there will be a question and answer session after. He wanted me to make a list of people who are interested so if would like to go put your name down here. He also told me Herb said that he guesses 100 would probably volunteer to move to Chicago. One last note. He also mentioned that it was for some in Indianapolis too. I will try to call Steve Stone tomorrow and see if he can maybe put something on UAW LAP web site for others who don't get on here.

I should have stated that to send me a private message if you are interested in going. It would make it easier to make plans if we had a firm date but as soon as I can find out more information I will pass it along.

I just got off the phone with a representative in Chicago and he said he was told by HR that they would let him know today when the plant tour would be. He said HR is having an issue weather to have it on a weekend or weekday. With a weekend they would have to pay someone overtime so it may have to be on a weekday. He told me he would let me know as soon as he gets an answer and hopefully we will know something by the end of the day.

Sorry to say but once again we are put on hold. Here is the responce I got from Chicago.
"I talked to the ERC Rep and he is telling me that the HR Manager is putting a tour on hold and is waiting to see if Ford in Detroit is willing to set-up dates for all Employees willing to tour the plant."
I just hope they don't do it during the NCAA Tournament. If I hear anything else I'll be sure to post it as soon as I get it.

Talked to Steve this morning and he said he just read about this tour last night and has already contacted the BC in Chicago. He said that as soon as he hears something he will post it on UAWLAP website. Glad to see it will be posted there as more people will see it and nobody can say they didn't know about it. Unless of course they don't have a computer. Thanks Steve.

He's talking about those wanting to transfer to Chicago that want to volunteer when they hire for the second shift.
