This is why Mulally is getting the big bucks.
See, he sent corporate spies into Toyota HQ where they smuggled secret documents out that contained information on all of the issues that have been brought to the forefront as of late. Once he saw the issues with Prius brakes, corporate accelerator pedals, Corolla issues, Tacoma driveshafts, uhhh, what were all of the others I lost count; he couldn't help but set forth his master plan. It was easy for him to go before Congress and support his domestic counterparts that had their hand stuck out wanting money while he sat there and smiled. Go ahead boys, take all you can get! He surely was proud of himself when he saw all of the backlash and hatred toward GM and Chrysler. The UAW cutting their members contracts at the cross town rivals was just icing on the cake. He knew that the UAW would have to come to the membership at Ford and try to get the same deal so that they weren't constantly hounded by the boys at GM and Chrysler. I mean, hey the Ford guys are getting this in their contract, when do we get it!? With the UAW fighting it out from within, Ford could then concentrate on larger matters.
Step 2. All it took was a small leak to the media concerning the aforementioned stolen corporate documents. Mulally just reenlisted all of his media contacts that he developed at Boeing and let them break the story. Look where we are now. Everybody is pissed at GM and Chrysler for taking money. People are scared to buy a Toyota because of no telling what it may or may not decide to do on its' own. And even more are convinced that it is all an evil plot by the business unfriendly Obama administration. In the meantime, Ford stock is up around 1000% and they are gaining market share almost daily!!!
And everybody thought Billy Ford was a dummy for picking this guy!
