Voluntary Job Postings for Chicago Assembly Plant - Update
For the members waiting for the Voluntary Job Postings for Chicago Assembly
Plant, the Job Opportunity will be posted after the in-zone manpower (RTBU’s
and in-zone postings) needs for Michigan Assembly Plant are completed. That
could push the Chicago postings to next month. I have talked to the President
Carlo Bishop recently and Local 551 is planning on holding a plant tour at
Chicago Assembly. CAP management is currently working on approval for the
tour. I will post the information as soon as I get it.

As job opportunities arise at LAP next year, STEP #1 on the Placement
Hierarchy in Appendix N is the In–Plant Recall List: A combined seniority list
of employees with recall rights to LAP. These employees who have Return to
Basic Units rights (Appendix O, and Article VIII, Section 1(b)) to LAP and those
employees who are currently laid off from LAP and employees on no pay/no benefit
status. Currently, 552 production employees and 25 Skilled Trades (20
electricians, 3 pipefitters, 1 Toolmaker, and 1 ITR) have RTBU rights back to
LAP and 253 employees are on ILO.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Currently, there are Temporary Skilled Job Opportunities available
for Plumber-Pipefitters and Millwrights on Indefinite Layoff (ILO) and working
in production from the location(s) listed below. Only these Trades are
eligible to voluntarily sign-up for the following available job opportunities.
Plants with available openings: Sterling Axle Plant (Temporary) and Van Dyke
Transmission Plant (Temporary)
Locations that received the posting: Chesterfield (In-Zone), Romeo (In-Zone),
Utica (In-Zone), Van Dyke (In-Zone), Brownstown, Cleveland Site, Indianapolis,
KCAP, LAP, Lima, Monroe, OHAP, Rouge, Rawsonville, Walton Hills, Wixom, and
Ypsilanti.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations to Tara Britt, LAP and Kenny Walker, KTP for being selected
as Adult Black Achievers at the Chestnut Street Family YMCA Black Achiever
Celebration last Saturday. The goal of the YMCA Black Achievers Program is to
provide leadership for teens in grades eight through twelve. The keynote speaker
was actor and author Hill Harper.
