I heard on the noon news today that they are looking to hire approx. 1200 people for help with the 2010 Census. Thought some of you on ILO might possibly be interested in that. Not sure but I think I heard something at the end about it being $15 an hour. You might contact the Census Bureau. It is in Jeffersonville, unless they have some kind of branch in Louisville.

United States citizens will be given preference for census jobs. Call 866-861-2010 to schedule a written employment test of basic skills. Great idea meanjean! I knew you had a soft side. LMAO! Don't tell anyone, Tony, you'll ruin my image. lol I figure that a temporary job, if I were in that position, would be better than nothing at all, especially one that pays $15 an hour. Good luck to anyone who applies.

There is also a company called AQL that does rework for KTP that needs people. They pay $11 an hour. I am told you can call Jim Fisher for an application. I started there last Thursday, it's alright.

I do have the applications here at the Benefits Office. I cannot take the Credit... Gary Cooper has been working Vigoriously to help ILO's to get hired on with AQL. Gary has asked me to take the apps and he turns them in. I am available Monday thru Friday until 3pm...

I also applied for the Census jobs awhile back and still haven't heard from them. If they are hiring they sure are dragging their feet. But then again that's the way the Government works.

wifeofailoworker, I'm not sure where the company is actually based at, but we worked inside the KTP plant. Sometimes they send some people out to a place called Civa (not sure if that's the correct spelling) which is down the road from KTP.

A.Q.L. is a subcontracted company that specializes in sorting and re-working parts to improve the quality of automotive parts coming into K.T.P..Due to the extreme volume in parts and other matters, needing inspected and re-worked,there is a demand for employment on a temporary basis for those who are interested.I would say that if you are hired, they will keep you busy at least until Chicago transfers occur.I can't guarantee anything, but I will do my best to try and help I.L.O.'s in need of employment.I want to thank all of the employees that I have referred for doing a outstanding job!Because of there work ethic and dedication,AQL now wants as many apps as I can give them.I have played a significant role, but this has truly been a team effort.I also would like to thank Steve Stone and Jim Fisher for their role as well as the employed retirees for their influence and patience with all of the new employees.Any I.L.O. interested in a job opportunity, you may do so by applying at the Fern Valley Union Hall.Jim Fisher has applications on hand. When applying, please bring a photo copy of a driver's license and social security card. Thanks Coop

Automotive Quality Logistics,It's $11.00 a hr.,but with tap,you are making the same amount you would on the line, really, more.Deerhunter, thanks for reminding me,yeah I would like to thank them too....HAHAAA~!!!Before ya'll start any shit.I got this job through the unemployment office, when checking on my check that I had not received for Dec. due to bye week.I am sure ya'll know on I.L.O.Made some arrangements with Stone, and collected as many applications that I could get a hold of.And by the way, they hired evey single person that I had turned in as of Wed.This company is not U.A.W.,but I helped to influence them to hire I.L.O. workers that are in TAP.Like I said, there are apps at the Union Hall.I.L.O.'s only!If you ain't I.L.O.,I am not gonna help ya.Plain and simple. If you are,I will do everything I can to try.

Regarding the Census Bureau, my wife just got called this week; she applied right before the 1-24-10 deadline and she starts 3-15-10. So that possibility is still out there.
