Stone Chicago Assembly Plant Tours Forms The Chicago Assembly Plant will be conducting small tours for LAP employees considering relocation to the Chicago Assembly Plant. Plant Management wants to keep the numbers of visitors limited to 10 for each tour for safety proposes. Anyone interested in visiting the plant should fill out the entire form with the information necessary in order to setup the tours. A Tour Survey Form is on UAWLAP.org website. If anyone is interseted in pooling together and renting a vehicle, Thrifty has a special on their website for $44 a day on minivans that seats 7. Probably more like 6 comfortably.

Looks like you have to sign up for a tour on the above websites. Would be nice to know when you sign up for a tour that you will get a confirmation or when that might occur.

to all of those who are thinking of going to Chicago is anyone afraid that when retool is done they might keep you all in chicago for longer then you should be there? I have heard of people that have volunteered to go to other plants to work and have been there longer then they thought they was going to be.

I will tell everyone the same thing about the possible move to Chicago...if you have a family, and you have the support of your family, especially your significant other, you should be a-ok. If you plan on being a weekend parent until your "hopeful return"...make sure you have the support of your family if that "return" never happens. Make sure your family can and will move to Chicago if that is the end result. DO NOT go there guaranteeing your family a return. Make sure they know all the possible outcomes...and then, as long as they can support any of those outcomes, your decision just got easier. I wish nothing but the best of luck in all your tough decisions, but as long as your significant other is giving you the support you need, you will be fine.

As always with Ford your motto should be prepare for the worst and hope for the best. I'll be happy to be making a decent wage again.

1)Remember my local union brothers and sisters, support are local union leadership. 2)Lets keep in mind that us on ilo are gonna be making a big decision on chicago transfer and we dont need any negative thoughts you wanna throw at us. 3) Remember this is a rumor site and you should be at your union meetings to get very good and helpful information.

I think you are missing the point uawman...these people have been to union meetings, transfer meetings, individual meetings with Stone, Herb, etc...and they still can't get any concrete answers or guarantees.

Thank you ScottR apparently some dont know what all has been going on or to blind to see that the truth is not always told, just needing true facts before lives are affected.

went to the site to sign up for a plant tour. all i saw was tours on weekdays. very upsetting. because of contract givebacks that were not necessary, those of us on ILO are now getting TAP and only half of our regular pay. thus, most of us have had to get another job. which makes it hard to go to chicago for a tour on a weekday. why can't they have a tour on a weekend?

Went on a tour of CAP Tuesday and was told by the ERC that Ford didn't want to give any tours so they had to fight for them. Brian Robinson and two committeeman gave us the tour and they were all super people. We were somewhat surprised and disappointed that we didn't get hollered at like newbies.

The plant looked good as far as plants go. Didn't notice a lot of trash lying around and the Taurus looked sharp. Went for the noon tour and didn't notice any thugs running around but it might have been to early for them. The area did look a little run down with dilapidated buildings around but I didn't look for areas to live. However, we did get lost going back to the casino and there did seem to be some nice looking neighborhoods that weren't very far from the plant. It was mentioned that a majority of the people that work there live in Indiana because it was cheaper. Were told that 15 people were brought back from layoff and only have around 32 left since going to one shift. They said they were shooting for November as a start date for the second shift and when they add the Explorer they may be adding a third shift. We did ask a few questions and as soon as we get the answers I will share them with you. Good luck to all.

so rudedawg are u sayin we wont be up their and working till the end of this year? that would certainly be quite a bit different than the June time fram that steve stone told us about. from tony v's post about the chairperson report. Chicago Assembly Plant Timing: According to the Chairperson of CAP, the timing on the actual shift addition is in November but the will begin to train employees in June. There also is a line speed increase beginning the last week of June to the 1st week of July. That adds about 65 jobs to the plant. The Company is telling us the posting should be in April. looks like november..how could stone have been that far off??? and thats a big deal, our benefits will run out before we get up there now.

Sounds like we will be using Cobra for a few months to keep some health coverage. This sucks $300-$700 per month depends on your family size.

so rudedawg are u sayin we wont be up their and working till the end of this year? All I said was they look to start a second shift in November. When they start bringing people in is anyones guess but it shouldn't be too hard to figure out that they would need time to train new employees. It's their call.
