WARRENDALE, Pa., March 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ford Motor Company and SAE International are joining forces to provide a series of Ford's online training courses to automotive engineers worldwide. Ford has licensed SAE International's Professional Development unit to offer six popular online courses on powertrain and problem-solving topics as a way to extend Ford engineering knowledge across the global industry.
Topics include Powertrain Controls, Powertrain As-Installed Driveline Subsystems, Powertrain As-Installed Stationary Subsystems, Powertrain Driveability, Powertrain Performance Feel, and Global for Problem Solving. The self-paced online courses range in length from three to 12 hours and are economically priced to encourage broad participation.
"Ford is excited about partnering with SAE International to provide the automotive industry with engineering training that supports improvements in product quality and powertrain innovation," said Barb Samardzich, Ford Vice President, Powertrain Engineering.
According to David L. Schutt, Ph.D., SAE International's Chief Executive Officer, "The Ford partnership is a great opportunity to take engineering expertise from one of the most respected OEMs in the world and make it available to all automotive engineers through a selection of convenient online courses accessible anytime via SAE International's already-extensive Learning Center. Combining these highly valued courses with SAE Professional Development's broader portfolio of popular educational materials makes for a very compelling learning platform for engineers the world over. It definitely strengthens the essence of SAE International's lifelong learning mission."
While certain Ford proprietary information was removed from the courses, they contain essentially the same content that engineers from Ford and select suppliers have benefited from taking. To explore the complete portfolio, visit www.sae.org/fordonline .
