Heard a rumor today about possibly being down next week due to running out of room to park our trucks pending repairs. Personally, I don't buy it because we have a holiday next Friday so they would have to pay us short work week. I don't see that happening but who knows. Just thought I would pass this on.

They are diligently installing lifts at LAP's Mod Center Building to help with this problem. I think 10 lifts in all. The Mod Center is where LAP stores its engines the building just north of the paint department. They are talking about working all weekend doing repairs to the trucks currently parked at our plant. They are even paying maintenance overtime to accomplish this. First overtime in years at LAP.

Seems I remember being down a week at LAP in which there was a holiday; we claimed the holiday pay when we filed our unemployment. You are not eligible for short work week unless you physically come to work at some point during the week. The down week rumor was rampant in super duty trim today.

The repair people in LAP's shop are working on the gas unit campaigns now Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with day and night shifts. They were told about 3 weeks worth of overtime repair.
We will see in the weeks to come about your rumor of down time......

buggaman.... Thats funny shit that they have to reinstall lifts since LAP had them in the mod center in the past. We used them to do repair work to the Explorer transmission on the 2002 launch. Made alot of overtime money off Ford out there. Hope they don't work too fast. Sure would like a week down since I'm at KTP now.

In 1994 we were off on Monday for MLK day and then missed the rest of the week because of record snow and got 8 hours holiday and 32 hours short work week. I think that also happened at least one other time at LAP. It seems like you have to work either the week before and/or the week after to be eligible for the holiday which may be why you didn't get short work week when we were working one week on and two weeks off.

We also had a week at KTP last year in SD Trim where we came in for 6hours on Monday and got the rest of the week off, so who knows.

We were told tonight that we will be working 4-10s next week on the box line in body shop since we are off Friday. But I like the down week rumor much better.

Just curious: do down weeks and short work weeks effect everybody, including trades? I haven't worked in a B & A plant, and I was wondering if EVERYBODY gets sent home when there's a lay-off?

The FEU building outside of the final chassis areas has been getting some hoists installed for these truck repairs, former Plant manager Todd Bryant had them removed just a few years ago. A few weeks ago when everyone was called at home to tell them not to report to work the following week was the first time in 17 years in Skilled Trades that I have been told to stay home.
