UAW to hold “Buy American!” Rally at 2010 Mid-America Trucking Show
March 27, 2010
(Louisville, KY - March 26, 2010) – To take advantage of cheaper labor,
Freightliner has been shifting a large part of their truck production from their
American factories to their Mexican factories, and since April 2007 thousands of
Freightliner’s American workers have lost their jobs.
On Saturday, March 27, 2010, laid off and active Freightliner workers and their
families, along with fellow UAW members, will hold a “Buy American” rally in
order to educate Mid-America Trucking Show attendees and vendors regarding this
and to encourage trucking companies and owner/operators to insist that the
Freightliner trucks they order be built in Freightliner’s American factories.
At a time when good paying jobs that support America’s working families are
disappearing at an alarming rate, our family’s future, and that of
Americans’ across our nation, depends on the commitment of all of us standing
together.
The rally will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, outside of the main gate of the
2010 Mid-America Trucking Show.
