From uawlap: uawlap.org/building-chairpersons-report/chairperson-update-03262010.phpAccording to the Chairperson of CAP, the timing on the actual shift addition is in November but the will begin to train employees in June. There also is a line speed increase beginning the last week of June to the 1st week of July. That adds about 65 jobs to the plant. The Company is telling us the posting should be in April. SMS

UAW LOCAL 551 COMMUNICATIONS Says SPREAD THE WORD...... between 3/11 & 3/17 labor relations will survey employees for shift preference in anticipation of the planned additional shift. You can sign up for 2nd or 3rd shift in LRO between the dates only, however this will not guarantee your shift preference but it will allow the UAW and management t...o minimize impact on employees.......SPREAD THE WORD....MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP BETWEEN THESE DATES!!
UAW LOCAL 551 COMMUNICATIONS is reporting that management agreed yesterday with your UAW leadership team at Local 551 to bring back 15 seniority laid off employees to begin work today to address manpower concerns!! Everyone please give these individuals a warm welcome back to work!
Be patient my friends.

I just got back from Chicago for the weekend. They have called back their few laid off workers. I heard that they could want us up there in May. They only have to give us 5 days notice to report by contract. So get yourself ready to go at a moments notice. They don't care what arrangements you have to make. If you don't show up your AWOL.
Now I spent 2 days researching the area and getting familiar with the northwest Indiana area. Went to plant and boy let me tell you it is a NASTY area. But you don't have to live there. There are nopt alot of apartment communities around the area and the ones they have are about 90% full. They are fairly expensive. 2 bed is about $800-900/month. If anyone needs some info on what towns are good areas to live feel free to call me at 502-593-9947. The Union sure isn't gonna help you with any info. I have literature on apartments that we went and visited. Good luck all.........Dale.

I too spent this past weekend in NW Indiana. I know someone who has put deposit on apt. in Merrillville. For me personally, Merrillville is not my choice. This area reminds me of Hurstbourne/Shelbyville Rd. Fine for some, I like small town atmosphere. Also, Merrillville is 40 mins and a toll rd. to the plant. As far as the plant, yeah its dirty around there, I was surprised it wasn't any bigger than LAP. I had this notion it was HUGE. Casino is right up the street....... Leaving the plant and checking out the backroads toward M-ville I rolled into Whiting. This is where I'm going. It was a very nice small town, clean and decent. They were about to have an Easter parade. We stopped and ate, talked to locals and just hung around walkin and checking it out. I was very impressed. This town does not have hotels or big apts. It has many apts. that are not advertised. Converted houses or garages mostly. Great for me as wifey is stayin here. This place is right on the lake and 10 mins from work.......

The Union sure isn't gonna help you with any info......Dale. I am sorry for the people that are having to relocate, the uncertain aspects can be frustrating. I also don't know what you expect the Union to do for you in respect to your housing needs. They have no way of knowing your families personal preferences, and/or budget. Everyone has access to maps and the Internet. If the Union would have made some suggestions in these personal areas they would have been assailed for telling people how to "live thier lives", or something to that effect. Good luck in Chicago. i respectfully disagree. i think the union should be looking to make some deals with the apartment communities in the area. this is exactly the type of thing that the union should be more involved in. unfortunately, not much seems to be going on.

I know where Dale is coming from, When I hired in at LAP 9 years ago we had a bunch of KTP people come in the plant nobody gave them s**t about it. When some of our people transfered over there last year all I read on this forum was trash talk about "LAPers" coming over. I know its not everybody over there but some talk about and treat us from LAP like we are pieces of dogs**t on your shoes. I know we are the same local, but it is two different worlds, so excuse us if we tell you to butt out of our business when it comes to certain matters that dont concern you.

Nobody asked the Union to assist in housing needs you suck ass ktpelec! This is LAP site, and a post about ILO's going to Chicago. Are you one of us? No, so shut up. All you ever do is blow smoke the unions butt. I said the Union will not tell us nothing from when we go to when the jobs go up. They just say the company only has to give you 5 days notice to report. I'm more than capable of getting my own place to live. Wow, sorry someone crapped in your Corn Flakes D,Laclair. Sorry if someone posts something that you don't agree with. I guess when you start working at the Chicago plant we should expect you to never post on the LAP/KTP Forum again. If your asking if I am one of "you" do you mean, someone that is laid off? someone that works for FoMoCo? someone that is American? Someone that lives in this area? or is someone that calls other people vulgar names? Chill out. Hey Scott, thats just the reason more people don't participate on this Forum. Got to agree with you guys here ktpelec sounds like a union s/a to me, he comes across as arrogant and condescending sometimes. However I hope he will continue to participate, stop whining to Scott you stuck your nose into a hornets nest and got stung! These people have been out of work a long while now, and don't need your sarcastic input.

Well excuse me. When I read D,LaClair's post I must have misunderstood it. It seemed to me as if he was complaining about the Union not supporting those in need of temporary housing. I appologize if I took it wrong. Oh yeah if you don't like what I post don't read it. If you don't understand that, kiss my ass, you bunch of low senority whiney ass wipes. Let me be the first to say GO FUCK YOURSELF YOU PUSSY!

To those on ILO, I know that you will get back to work and the sooner the better. Its ashame that the company keeps people that doesnt do any work all day long, plays on the computer and sucks the unions ass. This guys arrogance smells to high hell and its bad enough that you try to communicate on here and he has to poison your thread. Keep your heads up and things will get better soon.

LMAO, Sorry about your senority position. Everyone from LAP that I have worked with for over a year now have been have been good people, just like the people from Loraine, and Atlanta, and Indy, and Michigan, just like the majority of people in any large factory. I'm sorry I didnt know it was everyone at KTPs fault that you had to get laid off, guess we all could have bought more Explorers. LMAO LMAO, it's a Internet Forum, very public, I can and will post you can't make me, you can't make me. LMAO Have a great day!

UAW LOCAL 551 COMMUNICATIONS reports .....Per management, the present forecast is for six more seniority members on layoff to be recalled for week of 4/19 & the remaining production members are forecasted to be recalled to the plant for the week of 5/17
It also stated that maintenance in Chicago is working on a mechanical device which will protect ktpelec's chin from all the balls that bounce off of it. This open forum thing is too cool.

Now thats just jealousy posting there. Jealous of a nut sucking douche bag that gets payed for doing nothing? No brother unlike you, I have a conscience, and I work hard for everything I have. And I also teach my children that hard work pays off. I think its sad that you are getting payed for doing nothing while we have ILO's doing everything they can to survive! And to kick the ILO's in the nuts you come on here and rant how great our f**king union is. You couldn't handle a true 10 hour work day, you would have a f**cking massive heart attack just trying to wipe your ass after 1st break.
