A fitter on chassis-day shift sent me a text stating only day shift will be working next week...and then 4-10s Derby week...off Friday. I don't know how this affects body/paint/stamping, but this is what he's being told for all other areas. Anybody have any guesses for all other areas?

My committeeman in body text me 5 mins ago the following: Only getting enough parts to run one shift in final areas...#2 and #3 body/paint will run full production, #1 shift will run sub-systems and some repair, everyone else TLO next week. Body box line will run both shifts. Expect robocalls.

How can body and paint run full production when there is only One shift out front working. Lets see add these up. A crew runs 380 B crew runs 400 + C crew runs 400 +. 1180 trucks for day in body shop and Final pulls 500? (maybe) for one shift. This just doesnt add up. I work B crew body and I know how we can run just on our shift. There has been plenty of times we came close to 500 in 8 hrs.. Im not saying the C crew committeeman is telling you a fib. But come on Scott you know how well we run on our shifts minus A crew

They will probably short shift both shifts, but need the extra shift there just in case there is a break down...

not so much UI-it's waiting for the sub to come in!! Ford knows we are off so I don't understand why we can't get the sub in the timely fashion as the UI.

Sad thing is how they do pay now when there are parts shortages...they can code you for shortage of parts which equals only 80% pay instead of the 85% for short work week. I still say that's bullshit. It shouldn't be taken out of our pockets if the vendors can't keep up. Maybe the vendor should pay the 5% we lose. freaknnuts...I know it sucks to be on a shift that has to work. I know all about it...when I was on the box line, there were a few weeks where we only worked...no one else in body worked. My gripe is the 80 vs. 85%, but I know someone will say "be happy you get paid at all for sitting at home".

I did not realize there was a pay difference!! Yes, the vendor should be held responsible for our 5%..it's not our fault-maybe then the parts would come in a timely manner.

The way I look at it...they could claim to be out of something every time there is a need to go short.

I agree that it shouldn't take Ford so long to process everyone's sub checks. The Process: Labor relations gets lists from all the different departments of those they have on the shifts that will be affected - (actives) - (TLO). After they compile their lists they send the complete list to the State Unemployment Office so that they can send out letters and set up their call in system for the dates of the TLO. To generate Your Sub Checks you must 1st file your unemployment claim. After your claim has been made the information is then sent to Ford to start the process of you Sub Pay checks. Lord knows why this process takes so long but it does. No one has ever said that ford is quick to take care of their obligations to you. I hope this helps some and explain a little of the process.
