Unless we have a buffer in between the two shifts in final, we will never be able to sustain the
necessary production numbers. We went to first break early last night due to cabs. Three
other times we were down due to shortage of cabs. We will need that buffer to allow paint and
body to catch up. I just feel that unless this changes we were set up to fail from the beginning.
Then the blame falls on us.....

Sounds Like Trim can keep up. I work In body B crew and we were backed to paint which was backed up to trim. The main line that feeds trim that runs over box line was packed and stacked..

I meant to say Trim cant keep up with final areas. Its not body or paint. So DONT start blaming us for that.

If we went to the 4x10 on a permenant basis it would have different start times.
Due to the moveing shipping times for trucks and trains ...etc. They didn't want to move the start times for this week and this week only since it creates such havok with the vendors and shippers due to them haveing to also change their shifts.
The shifts bumped up also causes nightmares for our fork drivers because they have no charge on their lifts. So if we go to 4x10 we will move back #3.

Oh and Trim being the problem is a GOOD thing in a way. You can put bodies in trim to speed it up. You can't do that paint, the booths can only paint and bake so fast.

Plus, paint/body ran smooth for one day..Sunday night C Crew paint was down 2.5 hrs..if that would have happened last night or during the other shifts, things would look much different. Summer is coming and with that means lots of heat and humidity..machinery does not run well running full out like that every day. I've just been around paint/body too long to know we can't run well continuously wtihout breakdowns happening. on a regular basis.

Me to, as for start time, me personaly, the later the better. As your B.C. and a mostly nightshifter when not in this job, I will always fight for a later start time. Might not get what I want but that is what I fight for.

How about moving dayshift's start time for a change.? You mean to an earlier start time? That would make it so hard on the working parents..daycare is hard enough to find at 6-impossible any earlier...
