Re: Romeo, MI It looked like there were about 20 diff plants that were eligible for these 12 temp jobs. What makes you think any of our ILO's get them? Are we the ILO's with the most seniority? Im putting alot of thought into this today and would like to know if I even have a shot at this thing before I get an ulcer over it for no reason. What shifts do they work there? Days? Nights? Four 10's or Five 8"s. Can the union provide any help with lodging?(Ford discount, etc). Is there any chance this temporary 3-4 month job turns into something longer? Thanks Herb for any questions you can answer.

What's this about Romeo Engine? What about resetting our insurance? How long can they make us stay at Romeo?

Madman, The plant is just like LAP on the inside. The plant is just as safe as LAP, nothing to worry about. We are thinking that we will send all our people in June. I think we will see some of our people return from Chicago around October-November. You want the $4800 moving allowance, and when you return you want the relocation $30,000

Romeo Engine Plant Temp Assignment
Facts:
Opening for 12 people.. It is only going to be for 3- 6 months, we are hearing August. You will not be stuck there, if they need permanent, then they will have to post permanent. There are alot of plants eligible, yes, but most are HVC plants which are the parts plants that distribute parts to dealers, real good jobs, so I do not see any of them giving up what they have on a temporary assignment. It is a good deal if any of our people get it because it will extend their sub and tap by 13 weeks eacdh upon reaching 10yrs seniority and now benefits are good for 2 years. Located about 40min north of detroit. We have not gotten a reply about the work schedule and hours yet, no one replied back today, should have an answer by the union meeting tomorrow.

Romeo,
On a temporary assignment, you are not eligible for any moving allowance money.

Herb, Is Romeo Engine just for people on ilo/tlo? What are the chances of Romeo Engine being a permanent position? I work at KTP and I grew up 20 miles from Romeo and wouldn't mind a one way ticket back?

I work at KTP and I grew up 20 miles from Romeo and wouldn't mind a one way ticket back? Romeo engine is just for ILO employees. They would have to do another posting if Romeo needs permanent operators. Sounds like some of our LAP people out there, they are ready for their one way ticket back here. Herb Hibbs BC

Speaking of when we come back from retool, when will they be putting up the bids for our jobs , i had heard body and paint would be done before we shut down, and will this include the ones that have been survyed to return to lap from ktp, before they stated only people on the lap rolls would be able to bid on the jobs , if so how would you be on lap rolls and still be working at ktp, thank you

We will sit down and see about who has recall rights to what classifications and then see what we will need to bid. We are hoping to have the final plan right after July vacation. We will try and start the bidding process around there for the classification we feel need to be filled before we go down, so we know who needs to be called in and when. Only LAP current employees will be able to bid on those jobs. Our LAP transfers, either KTP, CAP or CSP, can bid when they are given a return date and they start on that return date at LAP, day one. Thanks Herb BC

Will the bids for night shift be posted at the same time? Anyone know? We are looking to post the critical jobs needed for training and have in place so we know who to call back first. Some will be night shift because we want them to train with the the regular operators before we get up to speed. Thanks Herb BC

actually night shift will cme back when dayshift comes back, this way both operators will be working together to set up the jobs, This is the current scenerio and plan. Exactly how much overlap and working together has not yet been decided. We are going to build quality right from the beginning so how ever long it takes we will do. Thanks Herb Hibbs BC

Is the projected call back time for ILO still around Sept. 2011?

Also, will those in Chicago be delayed coming back to LAP until CAP finds replacements for them to leave? There was some confusion about this in talking with some ILO's that are going to CAP.
