I was told that the Inn of Hammond had alloted only 10 rooms at the $39.99 rate so be sure to let them know that you are from Louisville. It is about 15 to 20 minutes from the plant. They also said they didn't want anyone who wants to party. Dang, I guess we'll have to hold it down. Several of us stayed at Candlewood for the week and for the price it was a suite deal (sorry about that, I couldn't pass it up). New hotel but the only drawback for some of us was it was a bit of a drive. Last night was a free cookout for the guest and they had hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, pizza and popeyes fried chicken. There was plenty of food left over and they do it once a month. If you do stay here check out the Tilted Tilt and ask for Melanie, she was a hoot. If you do decide to stay in Merrillville be sure you make it a stay at Candlewood.
