"Ladies and gentlemen, you have just witnessed democracy in action," outgoing UAW President Ron Gettelfinger yelled to a cheering crowd at Cobo Center after the roll-call vote was stopped when King had enough votes to ensure victory.
Funny, I never got a vote in this election. I think if he had to face the full membership he would never had won.

Are you speaking of the Ford members or the whole UAW membership? I don't know how the tens of thousands of other union members he represents feel.

Seems funny that they refer to "Democracy " in action . Then you read how they booed Mr. Walkowicz for challenging Mr. King...Our international is starting to remind me of our congress..out of touch ...

If this was true Democracy in action then the WHOLE U. A. W. membership would get to vote for this and not just the delegates. Problem is we as a membership vote for the Delegates to go vote for us as a Proxy per say.
The Delegates are just as out of touch as our I. U. A. W. They know how we feel out on the floor but yet do nothing to change what is wrong. Kinda like our local reps, they suck yet by letting the local run the elections they keep getting back in.

How would that work if we all voted? The local with the most members would get thier candidate elected every time. I believe that would be #600 at Rogue, so they would set all the precedents for all the other plants? The most popular guy isn't always the best person for the job either. No system is ever perfect, and your not going to please all 355,000 members.
