Hello, I would like to bring your attention on a new post published on the
UAWLAP.org Site.
Details of the post follow.

Chairperson Update 8/14/10
After three weeks of downtime, I know a lot of you are ready to come back to
work. Hopefully, the flow of transmissions will keep us running though the
balance out period in mid-December. As of early last week, we were good on
transmissions until August 24th and the number should increase since the company
is flying the transmissions in.
During the downtime, other plants were experiencing record high
temperatures. While the forecast has the weather "cooler" before we return,
our H&S reps will continue to monitor the weather situation and make sure the
Heat Stress Program is followed properly.
Plans for our new models continue to take shape and are closer to be finalized
by the company. During the downtime, retools plans were really starting to
come together. Projections of units per year have line speeds near 70 jobs per
hour and employment numbers equaling LAP's workforce in the 90's. In late
August, the bargaining committee will meet with Vehicle Operations about the
tear out and the retooling for the new products.
Ralph Napier is selling tickets for the last Louisville-made Ford Explorer.
Tickets cost 20.00 dollar each and only 6000 will be sold. Proceeds of the
raffle will be giving in 2011 to the charities we normally contribute to. The
winner will be drawn at the Retiree Appreciation Day, September 15, 2010. If
the tickets are not sold out to Ford/Local862 members, we will sell the
remaining tickets at the State Fair.
Most of all of our transfers to Chicago Assembly had started by 8/9/10.
Others that had signed up later will be transfer by the end of the month.
Also, eighteen will be going to Chicago Stamping in November, while 6 are on
Temporary assignments at the Romeo Engine Plant. There was no one from LAP
that signed up for the 100 Rouge/DTP opening or the 2 New York HCV openings.
That will leave about little over a 100 members still on layoff. Though that
number is less than the 750 the company was going to lay off in 2008 with the
entire shift and the 250 that were laid off when the shift rotation ended July,
2009, we will continue to work to reduce the numbers of members on layoff
until everyone that was laid off has returned in 2011.
