You are so smart Marcus, genius! You know what you should do? You should prove how easy it is, to find a job and rub that in peoples noses. Some of the people on here are probably still getting unemployment. They sure have a lot of nerve absorbing the taxes that they paid into the state, that they'll have to pay back once they get back on their feet. Go hunt down a job for us, show everybody how easy it is. I'm not talking about finding a place that's taking 12,000,000 applications. Actually go try to lock down a job, that would cover your basic necessities to keep your family fed and under a roof. That'll teach em'! Now don't cop out and tell us about the door to door sales jobs, or the other commission based salary jobs, or where your family and friends hire you. Find one where the HR staff actually told you to report to work. This should only take your brilliant mind about 10 minutes, but ya know let's not be so callous to those that have been searching, give it a week, or two and report your results! Feel free to use all of your college credentials too!

If people can make 300 to 400 bucks on UI most will not even try and find a job or they will only try to find a high paying job.Thats a fact and i hear it said all the time.

I have been on ILO since May of last year. I have not had any trouble finding a job, heck I have had two since Nov. of last year. Do they pay the same as Ford? No, nothing like Ford but there are plenty of jobs out there. Most of the good jobs will not be posted in the Classifieds or on the net. You have to go out and look for them. I have a decent job now but I still continue to look for something better. My thoughts on the 99 weeks: It is excessive.

I think it is excessive. BUT, we as taxpayers don't pay UI. Companies pay it directly or as an individual tax. Since it doesn't come out of my taxes or the pool my taxes are going to but just from those companies. Screw em, pay the people. Here is a piece explaining how it works. This comes form a website that coaches companies on how to screw people out of paying UI to former employees. Yes they do that they fight peoples UI claims here at Ford all the time.
So any politician fighting against UI benefits is NOT fighting FOR the Voters he is fighting for his corporate masters. Since they are the only ones that pay it.
"Who pays for unemployment benefits?
Private employers pay a tax to finance the unemployment benefits paid to their former employees. For most employers, this tax rate goes up or down depending upon how much their former workers collect. Some organizations (usually non-profit or government agencies) reimburse the state, dollar for dollar, for any unemployment benefits paid by the state, in lieu of paying the tax.
In order to control your organization's unemployment costs, it is ordinarily not essential for you to know whether your employer repays the state for unemployment benefits through a quarterly payroll tax or through reimbursement to the state for benefits paid. However, reimbursing employers should be aware that they may not have the right to protest benefit charges, even in those situations where they were not the last employer at the time the claim was filed.
"It is important to understand that it is in the employer's best interests to limit the payment of benefits to former employees. Failure to limit unnecessary unemployment benefit payments will immediately impact the charges made to a reimbursing employer. Taxpaying employers will eventually pay a higher rate based upon unnecessary charges, but the increase may not come during the next tax year. Eventually, cumulative unnecessary unemployment claim charges will push the organization's tax rate up into the next higher tax bracket."

Since it doesn't come out of my taxes or the pool my taxes are going to but just from those companies. Screw em, pay the people i know you are too smart to believe that, but i will explain it properly for those that may believe that. your unemployment money comes from the state. the state gets that money by taxing the businesses based on their payroll. so the tax ford pays into UI, is a DIRECT COST of your employment. just like your base salary, your cola, and your benefits. to the company its all just one big labor cost...in short, ITS YOUR MONEY to start with. but instead of getting it directly, it gets paid to a huge beaurocracy. in which much money is wasted, lost, scammed, and misappropriated. not to mention the folks, many of whom i know, who milk the system for a year or more without ever looking for work. but, the good news for one of the political parties is that this UI keeps people dependant on the gov't for their income. they dont see it as a problem.
