I saw Joe Bobnar in u-trim today working on issues. He took the time to engage and listen to employees. I find it ironic that the plant manager talks to the hourly employees to gather information first hand when middle managers do not. I can now honestly say that the plant manager has talked to me more than most middle managers. I personally think they could learn a lot from his example.
Without constant communication the only thing that suffers is the quality of the vehicles. In the end, we all answer to the customer.

Tony, when Bobnar was at LAP I did an audit job close to his office and I'm here to tell you this man doesn't act like he is the head cock at the top of the pecking order!! He will talk to you in the drop of a hat and doesn't talk or act like an over-educated fool. I hated to see him leave LAP but am glad that you all got him at KTP.

That is true. Joe is very smart about this, he makes friends with hourly people in key positions and uses them as a check against what his managers are telling him.
