MOA or not, the union leadership at KTP sounds like it needs an enema. You can't have an overwhelming consensous from a few dozen people on a internet Forum. There are a couple of thousand workers at KTP, many of whom are completely satisfied with thier representation.

I believe it's just a matter of personal perception, some people think things are "screwed up" some people think not. Everyone percieves issues differently, is the glass half empty or half full? I hear a lot of calls for "unity", especially when it's an issue THEY feel strongly about. LOL

The language changed in the 2007 contract. In the BIG BLUE PAGES on page 42C it explains how your days wrap around holidays and it also in the 3rd paragraph explains if you are vacation ( in regards to July shutdown ) that you are eligibile to have those days added to your personal hours equal to the days that you missed. This was an issue that Bryan Kessinger found several years ago. Again, this language is found on page 42C under "Application of Bereavement Pay" Before this language changed, you were not eligible for bereavement pay if the death of a family member fell while you were on vacation. The reason for bereavement pay is because you would lose money while out and since you were on vactation you were not losing money. That is how was before the 2007 and now the language has changed in favor to us. ALSO FOUND IN VOLUME 4 PAGE 913

Heres how the internet works....
Me and the wife we looking for a used car. She looked one model up on a website (contour) and called me and said "don't buy one of those, everyone on the web complains about them"
I laughed and replied "honey, the only people that get on those websites are people who have had problems with their cars, people don't go to the net and post how happy they are"
That is when I realized what we have here. When people are mad they come straight here and post. Once their issue is resolved most, as we have seen, stop posting.

Can someone reference where in the MOA does it say that you give up your health and safety rights, bosses can work, your wages will be paid at their discretion and acceptance letters do not have to be posted? Ok pmooret, are you from KTP or are you channeling things heard through the grapevine? Tell me your issues so I can fix em Take away your H@S rights? Where has this happened to you. Give me what you have and I will fix it if it can be fixed. Bosses can work? Again, if you see this and don't griev it YOU are the problem not your union. Watching a supervisor work and saying "someone should stop that" is weak kneed. Call your Rep. and they will stop any supervisor form working. But, this requires tenacity because they will go around the corner and try again. Unless everyone tries to stop this it won't stop. You answered yourself on acceptance letters. This was something that was just done differently at the plants, we had no issue posting them once we were asked to, there was no arm twisting done as was implied. Some claimed people were getting jobs illegaly. I challenged those posting here to give me names of any of those people and I would remove them myself. Since that post I had one person respond and ask about a person, I showed them the acceptance letter and that was the only issue. Pay you at their descretion? has this happened to you? They must pay you in a timely manner. Every pay issue that has cropped up here has been corrected to my knowledge. They report every pay correction to us daily at the 11:30 meeting so we can follow up that any supervisor that is a repeat offender gets handled. I didn't follow this sight much until you guys from LAP joined us an Tony asked us to. So i don't know if you guys complained about LAP back then, I am told you did. So, it will be interesting to see if you are in happy happy land when you return.

Had spervisor and superintendant doing work once on frame line while we were ON BREAK. I grabbed my cell phone and made one phone call to the Union Office. It was handled very quickly and the primary operator IIRC got paid for the time they were messing with her job. My point is that is how you handle management working....with one phone call.

LAP is definitely Happy Land compared to the hell hole on Chamberlain Lane...that's a fact. Not once in my 16.5 years did I ever have a boss get away with 'paying me what he thought was fair'...have OIS/JSA sheets changed in front of me and expect me to perform 'my newly changed job'...be told to relieve 10 people while the other tag men only tagged 7-9...watch bosses work and be told by the rep I'm not writing him up, he does a lot for me...see assembly and inspection work combined but the assembler only does the assembly part leaving himself to be reprimanded whenever the bosses sees fit...if the OIS/JSA sheets were obeyed, half the jobs in body would be rebalanced...that's what I can come up with quick. I keep saying I'm staying at the hell hole, but I honestly see no way of doing that...so you won't have to see many of us bitching much longer. As for when all of us return to LAP, I could care less if you ever visit this site and read our crybaby gripes ever again. Since I will be back in Happy Land, I expect there will be no bitching from any of us.

Wow Scott. If you took that as a personal attack I apologise. It wasn't meant to be. As always my door is open. The issues you brought my way I thought had arrived at a place you were happy with. Maybe not.
I think he is just all jacked up for deer season.

I definitely feel sorry for the deer this season...they will wear the faces of a few. As for my issues, past and present, most should have never been issues. In no time at LAP did I ever have a boss pay me what he thought was fair and back it with threats that he knew I wanted no part of. I will keep documenting my issues and bring them down with or without the help of the union. I have always picked which battles I want the union involved in...my biggest one is an easy one, just had to wait for the bosses to rotate...now they have and the two women have assured me they will correct the mistakes the other has made. As long as my job mirrors those on the other two shifts...I get paid for what I work...and everyone leaves me the fuck alone, there will be no problems. LOL

Kessinger, I work at LAP. The issues I referenced are ones that I have seen on this site. I have seen your name on here and I'm quiet certain that if I had an issue you would help me out.

Must be a "truck thing". Here at KCAP we have basicly 2 plants under one roof. I've worked both sides. The atmosphere between the two sides are complete opposites. The Escape side is more layed back but the people will stick together when managment tryes to show their ass. The truck side is a friggen war zone. Everyone is looking to screw each other over and you will never find anyone who will have your back when you need them. I'm not sure why they are so different.....it is just that way.

There is only a small number of people on this Forum compared to the thousands of workers at KTP. Don't make an assumption on the whole workforce based on the posts of a few. I cover a lot of acreage and talk with a lot of people in my job at KTP and my belief is the majority of people are very happy with thier Union representation and to be working here.

The dang union reps ever see our boss working on the line and say NOTHING!! Piss Poor! Ive been docked my pay for missing one part in over a year and others in my area can miss things everyday.
Gets old hearing it i guess but KTP union is not even close to what LAP has. This is over all I know there are some good ones a KTP.

ktpelec...I'm sure there are over 1,000 people at KTP that LOVE the place...but I'm willing to guess a majority dislike the manner in which day to day business is conducted...by both the union and company. My belief is most gave up years ago...if your voice goes unheard, some quit trying...while people like myself will fight for what's right as long as I work there. You don't think the union would love for me to shut up and get rid of this board? I consider myself the leader of a watchdog group that holds people accountable for their actions...both union and salary. Everyone should be held accountable...period. As the guy from KCAP commented...I also heard that KTP was totally different from heavy to light truck when they were separate...of course they were under two entirely different contracts which was ludicrous.

There are 3500 or so people that work at KTP, I would guess an overwhelming majority are happy to be working here and have Union representation. A lot of those people wish that things were different in some way or another, but I can't say someone "gave up" because they don't have the same level of anger or outrage in an issue as strongly as I may. Thats just the difference in peoples values. Lots of people like to bitch, but when it comes to doing the hard work to really make a change they decide it's easier just to bitch about it. I could never do a union reps job, the task of dealing with all the different types of people and values would be beyond my ability. I really don't think that Scott E. and our local reps are concerned with this "rumor mill" Forum at all. I hope they are listening to the people that actually attend the union meetings and addressing important issues that concern the entire membership. I love this Forum, and will continue to participate with respect to everyones views, but maybe not the concerns. What you heard that happened at KTP over 16 years ago before Heavy Truck left is just that, someones personal opinion of what they percieved. In my opinion some of the tactics used by the company and the union are the same, yet the goals desired are different.

I don't want to be involved... I believe the union reps here at KTP (not all, but quite a few) play people, like its a test to check your resolve.. How many Americans participate in national elections 50% turn out is considered a large turn out...Scott R your comments are right on... And ktpelec your comments reflect the Union reps here...everyones views, but maybe not the concerns...I know I know go find another job if unhappy.....How about stay here and work for change
