Why are you blaming the union? They don't get to keep the money. Blame your coworkers and retirees (hourly and salary) for not buying all of the tickets. They were given plenty of time to buy the tickets and they elected not to. From the beginning they said they were going to sell x amount of tickets and what didn't sell would be made available to the public. Maybe you should have been selling them yourself.

Tell us the whole story, was the raffle canceled?? This is the first I have even heard about it I have participated in raffles at LAP and KTP, my neighbor and I have gotten each other tickets for years. The goal is to sell the tickets for what ever it benefits, you can't exclude people because they don't work there.

Well i posted a thread and was deleted......At LAP we r raffling off the last explorer built.....At the meetings we were going to sell chances at lap and ktp if theydidnt get enough sold then they were taking them to the fair......my feelings r they should only have sold them to lap and ktp so we would have a chance to win the explorer ourselves....i guess i am selfish but ppl dont know how hard we work to build these......but the union said they need to sell more so they can make more money!!!!!!!! and that just griped my butt......take take take and cant give a inch to the members...just my feeling!!They say the money goes to charity while we r off for retool show me the proof and I will shut up

I just talked to a LAP retiree that said he was told about a week or so ago. It would be 3000 tix total, LAP workers would get the first chance to buy them, if not all sold then KTP people next, if not all sold then the public would have a chance. Now there is something wrong?

Truth be told, they should have had a drawing to give 1 away to an LAP employee free of charge.

The total tickets is not 3000. They are selling 6000 tickets!

The letter that came with my ticket said 6000 would be sold at $20 each. I too feel if its to celebrate the years of the Explorer in Louisville,It should have been only local employees and retirees. Ford should have furnished the vehicle, since it is for charity, and then any profits from ticket sales would go to the charity. The letter stated LAP employees and retirees first, then KTP,then public. A lot of KTP people said they were not aware of the raffle.

6000 tickets for how many LAP employees? I just don't believe thats realistic, they would have to open it up to other sources for that many. I sure would like to purchase at least one, my family has bought many Explorers over the years.

That is $120,000 dollars! Even if it is a $45,000 Explorer, just how much do they think they need to give to charity? The tickets should have been more affordable so that more people would have been willing to buy one.

See I knew it....I'm glad others feel the same way........Its really degrading for us at LAP they tell us one thing and do another......money is evil to some!!!!!

I bought my ticket at the fair yesterday evening, I don't need an Explorer but I hope it's for a good cause. I guess there is none being sold at KTP? The lady I bought mine from said a little over 2000 sold so far.

Ralph Napier was at KTP on August 6th selling tickets and just gave Mark Baker 200 tickets to sell. Also, Ralph has sold the tickets at the Union Meetings also. The 6000 was a maximum number of tickets to be sold where all 862 member would have the opportunity to buy one. The moneys raised for charities would be distributed during the whole year. Last year, LAP employees donated over $230,000.00 to different charities; $150,000 was donated to Metro United Way; $45,000 donated to JDRF and $13,000 donated to March of Dimes.

Metro United Way...JDRF...March of Dimes...how about we start a charity & call it 'ILO Wellness' since our coverage ends in a few days. Yeeeaaahhhh right! Seriously, I hope whoever wins the Explorer is a UAW Local 862 member. & I hope the ones building that last Explorer build it with pride!
