Stone Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Aug. 31 FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 30, 2010) – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 in honor of a Kentucky native Marine who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Jason D. Calo, 23, of Lexington, Ky., died Aug. 22 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. Funeral services for Sgt. Calo will be held on Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. Eastern time at Mancelona High School Gymnasium in Mancelona, Mich. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day. Gov.
