Called 10 cut it back to 9.7 right at 9.7. I understand that the six minute call is just a courtesy call but better judgment could have been used. Maybe Will Ware was too damn busy thinking of hat hamburger he tried to steal from he cafeteria a few years ago I don' know.
Then he guy complaining last night on the way out he door about why there is workplace shootings. This has been on my mind since I left last night. I have to agree with him, what is it going to take for Ford, UAW, State of KY, Jefferson County, the City of Louisville, KTP and this local to understand you can not treat people like it was still the turn of the 20Th Century.
We have all seen on the news how slow the responding Officer's are to surround the place and then make entry only to find 99% of the time that the person committing the chaos has already committed suicide. Not to mention the people's lives that have been changed forever all due to someone being upset with the place they work at. Look at how big this place is people, how long do you think it will take the responders to give the all clear?
I understand the numbers we have to make and so does this guy but how much longer before the company pushes a person to the limit then there will be no turning back. We all know people in there that we think are unstable already.
Conversation starter please feel free to comment, I don't want people to think this is Armageddon or something but these things do happen and it is up to us to prevent this.

Are you suggesting that someone would come in and shoot a bunch of people because they had to work 10 hours at a job that is scheduled 10 hours everyday.

I do know the Will and he will always be the "Hamburgler" to me! I do not understand the workplace shootings tie in though.

I think he is simply making a point. I've worked at Ford for nearly 18 years...and after being at KTP for only 1.6 years...it would not have surprised me to see someone go ape shit there. We can tell you how much different it is at Happy Land all we want, but if KTP is all you know, you have no idea. The atmosphere at KTP isn't even close. Yeah, I've only been there 1.6 years, but I've been on both frame lines, both chassis lines, two different shifts/areas of body and it isn't much different anywhere. Bringing guns to work is not the solution...if anyone feels the need to shoot some co-workers, get some help. Never be ashamed to call your ESP or is it ESSP rep...or call your insurance directly and tell them you need help.

yea, it makes no friggin sense to me...union says we are scheduled for 9.3.....but they call anywhere from 10 hrs to 8.7 like they did today....it makes no difference to me how long i work but what pisses me off is that i have to make decisions regarding my sons transportion home from school based on how long we work and when they back up the line time alot of the decisions could be avoided....how or why do they call a line time of say 9.7...then tell us at 3:25 we are only going 9 hrs.....5 minutes notice.....what a bunch of shit!

Ok, I thought this might happen. Let me try this again and more than likely I will fail at this too.
No tie in to Will Ware and workplace shootings unless you he is the target LOL. Seriously though Will would be the one who called line time then cut it back, I am sure it goes above his level as well, other than that no way for it to connect.
Guns are not the answer and the one who was complaining was mostly bitching about how they went about cutting line time. From what I remember he only made the statement as to why he can see why people do that crazy shit that is all.
I believe someone else already stated that we are on a 9.3 schedule not a 10 hour schedule. I think just making it a 10 hour schedule and cutting it back at break time would be better but hey I am no one special. I agree that this place is screwed up but we only have ourselves to blame for this. Most of us have no time to get involved with our union so the ones that do get involved has to make desicions based on what they think they know, not what the membership really wants or needs.
My concerns were mostly about the size of this place and how slow our responders will be based on getting a plan together. That only leaves us to help each other if in the event (Godforgive) it ever does happen.

I hope that situation never occurs here at our workplace, if it did the size of this plant would make any response very difficult. We rode Will out hard after the cafeteria incident. Attachments:

Ok I understand the short notice and all. Yeah it sucks. We get it in Body too on the rare occasion we go short. But also keep in mind that folks out front are getting OT right now. Body and Paint dont get any of that because we run 3 eight hour shifts. You only get 5 minutes notice, and I agree it is pure BS, use your cell phone if you have one and make a call to whomever on you way out the door. I know that may not work for everyone but it is a start. The better thing would be if they gave 10 to 15 minutes notice. But we all know that makes too much sense for some people with small brains (management)

...I especially liked the 7.9 called at 12:50 am Friday night (Saturday morning). Mandatory break time is 12:30. Eight hours was called prior to last break, making break time ten minutes. As a result, we came back from break and worked a whopping total of 14 minutes...who's the college graduate that made THAT call?

We were told at 10:34 that "we're done" ZERO notice. If you know we are backing up and Paint already left at 10:00, give us a heads up. They could have at least said Paint was done and we just needed to fill the mezz. I would have been ok with that but no notice, come on people. There again, small minds at work.

We don't call line times. We try in our info. to let everyone know how long the company 'thinks" they will run. The schedule for final is 10 hours. We addressed the 6 minutes, I think you will see that get much better in final.
As to response we have first responders that work here and go through training with the company. Though the UAW folks would not take down a gunman they would respond to injuries. These people have saved several lives in the plant over the years, and we get compliments from the FD and outside medical facilities about how fantastic they are at doing what they do.
